Where do people run?

Where do people run? I’m on week two and have been running in fields as I have a very energetic dog that’s likes to be off lead! Am I making it harder for myself or does it not matter?

When I started C25K I took the car to the car park and then ran the local woodland and common trails near where I live. Now I'm running a bit further, I have started running to the common from home, so that gives me a mixture of road, track and trail running, which I really like. It's a bit up and down too, so that helps with the stamina 😅! I love running outdoors and I think the natural gradients and different surfaces are interesting. It will do you good running outside and it will make you a stronger runner. If you feel comfortable with it, go for it!

Happy running 😊

I run around a park as it’s open and I feel safe running there... I like grass but I have no experience at all , I just love being outside , all the best 👍

I love being outside too I usually walk my dog for a good hour or so every day so thought I may aswel run with her instead! Might have to look up some longer trails when I start running longer!

If you’re completing the runs it makes little difference. Grass saps energy a little more than tarmac. I ran most of C25K on grass still train in it a lot... when I come into a harder surface I tend to be a little faster with no extra effort. Currently I’m running on various surfaces and inclines... but I kept to my happy place during the plan.

The uneven surface of a field will develop ankles well, but will be slower, though less impact than on the road.
