That extra 3 minutes running was brutal!
When Jo Whiley said in my ear "Only 5 minutes left to go" I thought to myself "Brilliant, that means only 4 minutes until my favourite bit... The sprint!" so I ran... And ran... And ran and ran and ran and ran and I was thinking to myself "this is a rather long 4 minutes" and then Jo said in my ear "Congratulations you have just completed your first 28 minute run you can now walk for 5 minutes "
I felt cheated. I wanted my sprint and I was robbed of it. I actually threw my arms in the air and said "WHAAAAT!?" then suddenly, out of nowhere, while I was doing my walk down, my leg muscles started buckling up and some of them spasmed. I knew right then why there wasn't a sprint on my first 28 minute run. Because I had just pushed myself as far as I could go right now.
As soon as my walk/hobble down was done I did all the stretches I know on the beach. I feel absolutely brilliant.
Hopefully I'll be sprinting again next time.
This c25k programme really does work. It pushes you right to the limit that you never knew you even had, and then brings you back enough to enjoy the fruits of your new abilities. I really do recommend it to everyone now.
Doozer ran 3 times 17 minutes with 1 minute walks inbetween, this was a first for him too, we're both really bloody chuffed with ourselves and each other.
Amazing. I'm enjoying this birthday so far.

PS. I actually made sure my heels were at the back of my shoes and tied them up securely and properly this time and guess what?
I didn't experience ANY of my usual lower leg and calf pains until maybe the last 10 minutes. This meant I spent a lot more time just zoning out to the music and enjoying looking out to the sea when bits of the clouds broke up and sun shined onto the water. Lovely!
