Absolutely thrilled to announce I ran my first park run yesterday at Normanby Hall, completed in 37.38
From not running to 5k in about 10 weeks is something I am so proud of. Followed the C25K programme almost to the letter and then last week pushed to a couple of 5ks to see if I could do it. It was an amazing experience especially running with my daughter which made even more special.
At 56 I know I'm by no means the oldest novice runner but would like to think it gives hope to all middle aged couch potatoes.
Thanks to all those on these boards who are so positive and encouraging to people like myself.

Great news! your park run obviously went well! Extremely well done..so exciting! Good luck for whatever you wish to do next. I will follow with interest 😃
Thank you so much. I never stopped and had my daughter accompany me and encourage me all the way round. Hoping to run as many park runs as possible and see where the journey leads. Continued good luck on your journey.
Congratulations Bartontiger on completing and graduating from C25K with week 9 run 3. Nice happy photo of you. 😊

Congratulations and that’s an impressive time 10 weeks after the couch had its grip loosened! Enjoy celebrating and future running... you and your daughter can have many happy parkruns together... only 49 more to a nice red running top!!
Well done! Amazing achievement. Yes, it does give us late starters some inspiration to carry on. Your Parkrun time is 10 minutes faster than my walk/run result so if I can do that time by the end of the programme I'll be over the moon!
