Well I had my week 5 run 3 on Sunday and I was totally ready for it. I was up early and ready to get it done. I was 5 mins in and the worst thing happened - I urgently needed the loo 😱🤭 - this has actually happened to me before and it’s not a nice experience! So, I made the decision to run to a local supermarket where I could use the facilities but it meant I had to stop 🙄 Anyway, I decided I would do the remaining 15 and not be too hard on myself except I didn’t manage it. I did another 10, walked for 3 and did another 5 and then my cool down walk. I ended up really disheartened and felt a bit rubbish about it but I’ve decided to let it go and move on. So I moved on to wk6 run 1 and it’s actually less than what I did on Sunday 😆 it’s 5, walk for 3, run for 8, walk for 3 and then run for 5. So I did that yesterday & it was tough but good and I felt good for completing it.

Don’t be hard on yourself you are making great progress! I did Wk 5 day 2 yesterday, and almost every run I have done makes me need the loo. Hoping this will improve with practice!
5+3+8+3+5 is more than 20, or it was when I went to school! It was the longest workout of the plan so far!
Well done on W6R1
😆 yes true but the 2 x 3 mins is walking and the other is 20 mins continuous 😱
Doesn’t matter, apart from in your head, brisk walks raise your heart rate... so you heart is working the whole way, so are the legs... only the mind decides that the walking is easier... when I was in week 6 I came to the realisation that the walking was actually harder for me! After graduation I did 10x400m with rests of 2 minutes... much much harder than the 5k run! The long runs are great, pace down to start and then past the “toxic 10” minutes where it is harder and then it gets easier and feels amazing. I get frustrated when I walk or stop just as its feeling good.
I actually do know what you mean, I find it harder to walk at times in between and I feel like my legs go a bit like jelly 😌 I’ve been having some calf pain too, first it was shins and at wk5 I got new trainers. I did the foot analysis thing at run4it & greaves and then I got a pair of Brooks / neutral cushion for road & now it seems to be my calf that’s feeling it! I think this is holding me back. Anyway, I’ll see how I get on! I have to keep going, I’m in too deep 🙌🏻
We all have bad days don’t worry about it. I find even now that if I have to stop running for a toilet break or anything else I find it hard to get back into a run. It’s almost like you’re body thinks you’ Done and gives up on you
