Advice on affordable trainers please
Hi PP, my advice is to get a gait analysis done and get fitted for he best trainers for YOU. What suits me might not suit you. Gait analysis are usually done in independent running shops. They look at how you run then advise on the best trainers for you. Once you have a brand you could have a look on Ebay, discount online shops to get them at a bargain price.
Get your gait checked first before any spending.
My favourite running shoes might be completely inappropriate for you, so don't go on brand recommendation.
This post healthunlocked.com/couchto5... was written to try to make sense of the whole issue.
My running shoes are the most expensive footwear or clothing items I have ever bought, but worth every penny and cheaper than a physio.
You really shouldn't need to spend more than £60 at the very most on decent comfortable trainers. Don't be fooled into thinking you need 'this year's' model - last year's are perfectly fine or even the ones from 3 or 4 years ago. For instance, I run in Asics Gel Pulse 9 ... they are now on Gel Pulse 10, but the Gel Pulse 7 and 8 can still be bought and I'm thinking of getting a pair or 2. They'll be much cheaper.
I'd certainly consider trying on a wide variety of brands in a running shop and trying them out on a treadmill. The most important consideration is that they are comfortable.
Have a look at StartFitness.co.uk, SportsShoes.com, Amazon and consider the Karrimor brand from SportsDirect.
Good luck!
I use price spy app after knowing what shoe I need... big savings at the moment, and as John says even bigger savings if you go for last seasons colours.
