Starting Again.

After giving myself a torn cartilage and a stress fracture on Week3, Run 3, I was given the all clear last week to start exercising again. I do a lot of cycling, and to be honest I was going to throw my trainers in the bin and stick to 2 wheels. But being an idiot (we’ll that’s what the wife called me) I pulled on my trainers on Saturday morning and started from scratch on W1R1. After no ill effects and 2 bike rides as well over the weekend, I doubled up W1 R2&3 into one session on Monday morning. My dream of running a 5K is now looking good again.

Congratulations Lemontop on restarting C25K, I have been a 🚴 cyclist since I was 7 and graduated last June, I think like you that cycling helps a bit with running, good luck with your goal of running a 5K, I ran a full 5k about 2 months after I graduated.

Well done on Saturday.

Doubling up sessions isn’t a good idea... that stress fracture is an overuse injury... and this is a carefully devised plan to keep the risk of such injuries down to a minimum. Over running the plan is really asking for trouble. Be careful, follow the plan and get to the end of this a strong runner a lot sooner than thinking you know better than the guys who devised the plan.
