Sorry to read this.

8 weeks and you don't know what you have done? Why so long?

How did u injure yourself?

Oh no Mandy. What was the diagnosis? Have you been given exercises to do? Our bodies are amazing and they will heal given time, so don’t be despondent.

Hope you have a lovely Christmas and that 2019 gets you running again soon. 🤞

I am so sorry you are injured and have been on the IC for so long.. not sure what the injury is? But running itself is unlikely to be a cause.

I do know, from some of your other posts, that you were working extensively in the gym alongside this plan, and had been advised that you should be just doing the plan and no gym work ? But... as is mentioned in our, How to Run 5K post.. other exercise is essential alongside the plan.. we cannot simply run and do have to compliment the running with other exercise for stamina and strength.. flexibility and mobility.

As we are not medical experts, this is why we do advise anyone with existing Health issues always to seek the advice from their doctors and we set out guidelines in our FAQ post, especially for safe running and exercise regimes.

Are you waiting on results from medical tests...maybe they will prove to be helpful ?

Sorry to hear that Mandy. Your physio should be able to give you some pointers about what exercise will be good for you. Maybe try swimming if running isn’t for you?

My knee and ankle got mangled because l ran in the shoes that were more suitable for gardening. I also didn’t invest in good insoles. I also ignored the advise and refused to go for gait analysis. That basically means that running only helped me get injured through my idiocy but l would have avoided those injuries if l just listened.

Also, 8 weeks?! My physio stapled me together and got me match fit in that time.

You’re not just sitting and waiting for ligaments and muscles to heal without strengthening exercises?

Hi Mandy. Don't give up. I was out for 3 months between June and September due to a sprained ankle. I was on week 7 at that point too. I restarted from week two in September and ran about every 3-5 days and I'm now on week 9 run 1. Get your injury sorted and keep plugging away.
