Week 5, Run 2.

I did it. I ran week 5, run 2. Am I tired? Yes. Did I find it hard? Absolutely.

I found this run especially hard, I don't know why but I did. Did anybody else? It's made me even more nervous about run 3 this week because I wasn't that happy with how I ran today.

Surely I can't be the only person who has had a time when they haven't been happy with a run?

Any tips for week 5, run 3?

I found them all hard work. Stubbornness kept me going. Sometimes the pace was very slow but i never stopped. Because I completed every run I moved up to the next one in the programme. It works. I can do 30 minutes now and I'd never have believed that 9 weeks ago. If you had to stop running before Laura told you to slow down then I suggest repeating W5 R2 before progressing to W5 R3.

Good luck.

Fortunately I didn't stop until Laura told me too, pretty pleased with this cause I was tired. Im thinking of going run 2 again!

But you did keep going and that's the main thing. Don't think of it as not good enough or a set back.

I found most of the first five weeks pretty hard, despite often finishing with more running in my legs. It’s not an easy process and some find certain runs easier than others... for me intervals were more difficult than the longer runs.

Just go into that twenty at 4/10 effort and ease into the run... you can do it!

Well done! It was quite a shock when I had my first tough run and I think it was around week 5. It knocked my confidence a bit and I was apprehensive about the next time. Posts from experienced people here stopped me overthinking it and told me it was entirely normal. The next run I did was one of the best I've had. Since then (I am on week 7 now), there have been some runs that are really hard and others that seem almost easy. No explaining why they can differ so much, but I keep on keeping on. As will you. The important thing that should make you proud is that you kept going and you will keep going again. Good luck with the next outing.

I agree with UnfitNoMore. The key to succeeding W5R3 is to run slow and get into a rhythm. On my first attempt I had to split it into two tens with a two minute walk. So I went back and repeated a couple of runs from that week and then managed it on the second attempt. If you have succeeded at R2 then I would just go for it and see how you get on. Good luck!
