Week 5: Completed wk 5 and used Endomondo and my... - Couch to 5K
Week 5
Congratulations on completing week 5, that is a very good time, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks, but I am sure you will be able to run it without any problems. 😊 🏃
We don't encourage comparison on this site, simply because of the vast range of ages, genders, abilities and disabilities that our membership represent...........who do you want to compare yourself to? Maybe the 20 year old male, or perhaps the 83 year old graduate from last year????
Your pace is your pace.......some people will be faster, others slower.
Compare yourself to your former self and you will see you are doing great.
The recommended pace for C25K is an easy conversational pace,at which you can speak full ungasping sentences as you run, as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Hello I find your answer very patronising and I noticed on your wall you asked people how far they ran in 30 minutes, is this not the same kind of thing. I was asking so I could set some targets for the future not be spoken to like some child kind regards Homer
I am sorry if you found my reply patronising.......that was not my intention.
Some people are easily discouraged if they see other people performing well in excess of their achievements, hence our preference not to dwell on figures, which are very individual.
How would you have felt if someone had replied to you that your pace was much slower than the average? The 20 year old male might have replied to you that you were slower than him, likewise the 83 year old woman might consider your pace fast......without knowing the details of the respondent, your question elicits pretty meaningless answers.
The poll of distance covered at graduation, does not give one or two responses to a question, but stands with over 500 responses to date. Those figures represent the whole range of distances covered at graduation, which many people find very reassuring, that whatever range they fall into, they are not alone.
The very basis of C25k is to build stamina and endurance, which counter intuitively, are built by running slowly, which is why running at an easy conversational pace, individual to each runner, is the recommended pace.
How can you find that patronising?! Your pace is your pace. And yes, normal pace compared to who? 🙄
To anyone who will answer instead of having a go didn’t think it was a problem what is your average speed when doing c25k
This seems to be getting a bit tense.
If you want some direct answers, I am sure they could be provided, but how would that set your personal goal?
We are all different. Personally I go too fast over 5 or 6 km, so I need to work on that in order to get further.
When you complete the programme you will naturally get faster than you currently are.
Best to set your pace against yourself .
You completed the run, so the pace was good... great work.
