The weather has definitely got colder and have realised that I need to probably invest in a running jacket because my old raincoat is not doing a great job now that the weather has changed. If anyone has any recommendations about any good running jackets that would be great. I'm not looking for anything super expensive just a running jacket for a beginner and does the job of keeping me warm because I didn't go out on my run this morning because it was cold and wet (and I am also recovering from a cold at the moment too...)!

I'm very new to this (still on Week 1) but decided that I needed a jacket to wear during my C25K sessions. For reasons of convenience (and the added bonus of not being seen!) I'm currently going out when it's dark early in the morning, so also wanted something that was Hi-Viz (OK, I wanted to be seen, just not recognised). I've bought myself a mans cycling jacket from Aldi (other bargain stores are available) for the princely sum of £7.99. It is light-weight, Hi-Viz green with some reflective stripes, has a couple of pockets (which I don't use) and best of all has a zip fastening meaning that I can start my warm up walk warm & zipped up, lowering the zip to allow the heat out at my session progresses.
Think about how hot you get running, layers with thin water or wind proof top layer may be best. I started run with t shirt and wind proof jacket in howling gale yesterday but still needed to take jacket off within 10 mins. Reflective elements great as you come into winter.
I've been ordering from Decathlon for my last few things I bought . They have a few running jackets. What I found was long sleeve running tops and they're kind of cosy on the inside .😊
Great point, I will make sure I pack mine for my visit to Scotland in 2 weeks time. I am in Somerset and although it has been raining it has not been overly cold so far.
