W8R3 - first grumpy run

I did the 3rd run of week 8 last night, and it was the first time I've felt fed up and grumpy from start to finish. :-( I know that mood and attitude can have a big impact on performance: I did manage the full 28 minutes but it was a real struggle. I had been in a bad mood pretty much all day (poor night's sleep, poorly cat and major stress at work) but usually a run clears my head. Not yesterday, though. I'm going to have to start preparing myself mentally for W9R1 early (scheduled for tomorrow morning) because I really want to have a great final week of the programme and complete it with a flourish before the fabled Park Run on 22 December. Already planning an early night/no wine so that I am clear-headed and well-rested, but any advice on whether I should have a protein-based or a carb-based evening meal would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The main thing is, you completed the run Amerynthe. It would have been easy to bail, but you didn’t. You know why you felt like it and you powered through. I’ve had a couple of runs like that - one fairly recently - but I came back stronger next time out.

You can do this! 💪👍

Thanks, I should remind myself that I did go out in 1 degree temperatures when I really just wanted to curl up in a ball and eat chocolate! :-)

In that case double kudos! 👍👏😀💪

Well Done Amerynthe! Awesome effort to keep going & finish the run! 🙌💪

Week 9 had your name all over it! Really looking forward to reading your post when you’ve completed the park run! You’ll show ‘em! 🙌🎉🤩

I did this run on Tuesday and it was equally as awful. But I have just stepped in from W9R1 and it was fine just went really slowly and found no real problems and didn’t want to die today after 5 mins so that’s a bonus 😁

Just get out there and don’t over think it. We are almost there 👍🏻

Thanks Pinkybee, and congrats on starting W9! The finishing line is almost in sight!

You weren’t in the mood... the run sucked... the old you would have retreated to the couch... you ran the run... superstar! Great job. Hopefully you’ll love all of week 9... we are ready to cheer you round that victory lap.

Well done. You went out there and did it. Two more runs for me then a park run next weekend and then I too will graduate. Never thought I would get this far xx

Thanks! I think a few of us are aiming for a park-run pre-Christmas graduation! Good luck!

Really looking forwards to hearing about your Parkrun graduation! I had hoped to do the same (inspired by you) but life (work) has got in the way and I’ve fallen behind schedule. I have just registered with Parkrun though, so will probably go and do one next Sat as a Christmas present to me 😊 Well done for keeping going when it felt horrible. It’ll be worth it x

Thanks Molly! It will be great to hear how you get on at Park Run! My schedule is all up the creek now, too, because of work - I need to fit in the three week 9 runs before the end of the week, so that I can have Friday as a rest day before Saturday's park run. That means a run today (despite torrential rain forecast all day ...), getting up at the crack of dawn on Monday to do one before work as I'm tied up with work stuff from 8.30 am to 9pm that day and Tuesday, then the last one either Wednesday or Thursday evening. It's going to be tight, but I am determined to do it! We'll both manage it, somehow!
