I hit my goal and it was as if something in me said you done it now you can stop, I have truly lost my mojo have been ill and also put all the weight back on maybe a little more I'm afraid to look at scales. please please help me find the strength to get my running feet back I have a holiday booked for July next year I need to get fit, loose weight and feel good about myself again.

Hi June, lovely to have you back. Sorry you hit that slippery slope, but it’s ended now and you can make it back up there. You know the three rules of weight loss - Eat less; Eat better; Move more ! And you’ve come to the right place to get you moving ! Don’t look on this as some kind of punishment: far from that, it’s a wise and brave choice. Be proud of you for making it. We’re all right behind you here, and we know you can do it. Enjoy your journey x
Thank you I have been constantly been telling myself I need to get back out there, but this is it I have planned to start over again at week 1 this weekend.
Let’s do this... you know you can do C25K so maybe set another goal similar to your 10k that you did last time... then set another goal for a few months after before you run that one??
Hi June. You know you can do this because you have done it before. Don't beat yourself up over losing your mojo as it sounds to me like it's still there, it just needs a nudge to wake it up again and you've already made the first step by posting here. Focus on your holiday as your goal, you have plenty of time to complete C25K and then perhaps steadily work back up to 10k. There are so many benefits to doing this, I think once you get started again you will soon feel much better about the whole thing.
So here's a nudge - get out there and go for it!
Hi. It happens. Best thing is you are here, and so, presumably you have the right mindset to deal with your fitness and diet. I was also a returning runner - I had a gap from running of about 3 or 4 years, but graduated in November again. Of course, I am nowhere near the distances I was before, nor have I got to the point where I love every run, but it is what is is, regret is just a waste of emotion, and I know I will get back to that level of enjoyment if I stick at it. So, make a gentle start on the plan, and stick around here for support, encouragement and advice - this site is great.
If you have lost the weight before, you know what to do, but I can highly recommend joining a weightloss group for support too. I'm a WW ( was weightwatchers) goldie, lost a lot of weight about 10 years ago and still go to meetings whenever I can; always a lot of info, healthy food ideas and a good laugh too. Of course, other weightloss groups are available.
Good luck with the running, and the weight management.
Hello June, you're going to be so glad you came back here, there are lovely people just waiting to cheer you on. Dig out all your gear, and go for it, you've got this, you've already done it once. With you all the way 😊👏
Thank you I am going to give it a whirl I have dug out my running gear so many times even taken it on holidays and not lifted it out of my bag. Enough is enough I have to do this.
Good for you, I can't tell you how many times I nearly started the program. That first run is the hardest. I still sometimes get up and really, really don't want to run. I say to myself, Just get your running gear on while you're deciding. It's like changing into Wonderwoman, as soon as that kit is on, I'm a runner again. I find myself out the door and wondering when did I actually decide to do this?! And off I go. Good luck
Hi June, first of all, well done - you did it! And now you're back to do it again The "eat less, eat better, move more" advice is only part of the solution, which is why most diets fail in the longer term. Dr Jason Fung has done, and compiled, some great research which shows that the timing of when we eat is crucial to avoid / reverse /re-set insulin resistance and our "body set weight". I highly recommend reading (or getting the audio book) of "The Obesity Code". It demonstrates conclusively that intermittent fasting, avoiding snacking, and eating within a 12hour or less window on non-fasting days Is a long term solution to weight management. And much cheaper than going to weightwatchers or slimming world etc. It's also essential to feed your gut microbes too - look up Zach Bush's lecture on youtube called "Eat dirt! And Thrive" for an introduction. Good luck, and keep in touch on health unlocked! xx
Thank you I will indeed take a look, sounds like good advice I now have my mind set on doing this I will let you all know how first run goes (planned for Sunday).
Hi. Sounds like u did great before ! And achieved lots! 😁😁 Sounds like u are determined to get back to where u were which is a great start! So I'm sure u will. This group is great for support. So go for it. U will feel better after Sunday 😁🏃🏃🏃
Hi June, I completed 0-5k in December ‘17 and ran through to April/ May and then stopped. I am now back up to W9R1 and about to graduate again....! The good news is that it has been easier this second time. This time I know I can do it and there seems to be muscle memory at work. Go for it, one run at a time it’s entirely possible 😀. I intend not to push so much when I’ve graduated and have resisted logging all the stats of runs, I’ve just kept it time based and will ramp it up slower than last time with the intent of keeping the habit. All the best for Sunday and onward.
