Sore, achy legs..

Ever since I did the week 5 run 3 on froday, which I felt great after. The next day and still feel my legs a bit achy. Did my strength and flexibility week 5 second time yesterday, and felt ok.

Just can't work out just to give it an extra day to start week 6. Do not want to cause any more damage.

What do you girls/guys think?

If these aches are only developing now then my first thought is to ask you what your shoes are like.

If they are not fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop, they may be causing the problem.

Do you stretch after every run as recommended in the guide to the plan?

I have stretched after all the runs I have done.

No I haven't had my trainers fitted that way. I use them as my work trainers too, which I guess isn't really what I should be doing.

Are they proper running shoes or just casual trainers?

They are oasics, with gel cushioning.

Lots of trainers that have gel cushioning are not designed as running shoes.

I guess I'll have to get my gait analysis done then asap. I don't want to give up as I have got this far. Been doing the program on a treadmill.

No reason why you shouldn't give it an extra day if you need to. Same applies to going for a run, starting slowly and seeing how it feels. The "shall I run or rest it" dilemma is something we all live with and often you only get the answer when you do run! The main thing is if you get any significant pain whilst you are running, slow down and then stop if it persists. Carrying on running with say a calf tear might mean the difference between a grade 1 and a grade 2 or 3 and so prolong your period on the couch. The advice about running shoes is good; it is not just a question of cushioning. I need shoes with stability built in and the same applies to many other people. So good get an analysis done. Sure you will be fine😊
