Runner to retire

I thought hard and long about this don’t want to do it but I going to retire from running my ankle and calf are not up to it and don’t want any more damage so as from today I no longer a runner I just got to accept it and move on so back to the bikes for me it’s been nice running but all good things must end

That's a great shame.

Perhaps when you have your scan results you can reassess the situation.

Running will always be an option and this forum will welcome you back, but if your ankle is not giving you the support you need then your decision seems like a wise one.

Cycling will strengthen the ankle without loading it as much as running.

Keep cycling, keep smiling.

I think it’s a good decision in the short term... as above, situations change and maybe wine day you’ll be back. Take care until then.

I hope you'll be back when you've had your scan, and got it sorted. But you're doing the right thing for now.

Could you ask your GP for a private referral, if you can afford it? You could have the scan within days if you go private.

Oh what a shame Garden, but you know your body and if you’re still in pain you’re most likely making the right decision.

Maybe .... just maybe ..... after a longer time off just on the bike or doing other non-impact exercise, you could tentatively try again, just slowly and keeping to short distances? Or not. Clearly it’s your call, but we’d love to welcome you back to this amazing running community one day. ❤️
