Follow your own advice and just go. Kit doesn't matter to start you just need Laura and the will to start. Go, go, go π You won't regret it ππ
Sometimes... you just have to stop thinking and go where you feet take you...
Just go
I did the first four or five weeks wearing ordinary tee shirts, an ratty old sweat pants and the runners I wear every day. I did not think I would keep it up and no way was I going to spend money on it.
But - it's addictive in the best possible way. And when I realised I was going to continue I went and bought the proper shoes. I then had to go and buy a 'proper' pants about two weeks ago because my sweat pants literally fell apart.
But - before you have to concern yourself with anything else - the big decision you have to make is, do you go out the front door and give this running lark ago, or not.
I do hope you will.
Yes!!! Do it just make the first step & follow the c25k and this forum you will be soo.... Chuffed with yourself ππππgo go go!!!!
The hardest part for me was getting up and actually getting out there! I worried about looking like a wally and being too old. In the end I just stopped thinking about it and just got out there. I've only been doing it 6 days but feeling better already.
Thanks for all your comments π I'm thinking our pet Buster is being shanghai'd as my cover lol ππ
I never thought I would go running having tried it when I was in my 20's and didn't enjoy it. However, my son does Parkruns and it was such a supportive, friendly atmosphere that I thought I'd give it a go. I heard about C25K via Parkrun and so on Bank Holiday Monday, headed out for my first run. I am now on week 7 run1 and I have amazed myself. So just go for it- I'm sure you won't regret it and Laura helps you through. Good Luck!
Lots of us know how you feel , many of us have been in that same place . GO for it . There are so many people on this site who are running converts , me included
I looked at my first run as the start of the rest of my life
Get the NHS C25K podcasts on some sort of device and go.
I started wearing my normal clothes, walking boots, raincoat, usual rather overloaded backpack... and I've run on little woodland paths in a long knitted skirt.
You will mostly be walking in the first few weeks. So clothing doesn't matter too much at this point. A pod cast I listened to that got me through my graduation in final weeks said 'There will always be excuses not to run, just run"
9 weeks is not that long to commit to something, so give it a try.
It's a blast! You'll love it. "Taking the dog for a walk" is just the cover you need, if indeed you do actually need subterfuge. I wanted to keep my running secret, as do lots of folks for fear of ridicule etc. Whatever it takes just do it. Some dogs will make ideal running mates
Running and walking burns off lots of calories, so the more of it you can do the better. Try leaving your car at home and get around using shanks pony instead. Make it a habit. Same with eating healthily and not drinking as much. All good news for your health and that of your children, as you can overhaul all the family's eating habits as you clean up your act
It's all good! I hope you can dive in and get going soon.
