Difficult week

Hard this week. Started a new job in a new city and in an area I haven’t worked before - prison mental health. Very busy and not managing to drink as much water as usual. City annual Christmas market making the commute a nightmare too. So trying to run later at night when it’s really dark ( bugger all streetlights near me) struggled with week 6 interval run and thinking I might have to go to once or twice weekly runs due to time 😞

Congratulations on your new job. Does sound a tough one and to be in a new city too. Good luck with it all. Twice a week is not too bad eh, yourll get there eventually and maybe can squeeze and extra run at the weekend?

I also found quite difficult this week (6) and I am really scared of the third run that I’ll try on Saturday...

Moreover while you have a lot of good reasons for your bad performance, I have none😕😔

Sometimes I think I simply can’t do it and I'm not sure at all I'll ever get used to the running routine...

But Laura says that we’ll do, and Laura is always right😏

You are still getting out there and making the effort.

Keep it up! You're doing great 😸

The Christmas market and the 'newness' of the job and the city won't last.

There are a number of steps you can take to make night running safer - clothing, headtorches.

But do be kind to yourself - right now once or twice might be all you can do (and quite impressively at that), even if that is only a temporary thing... shortest day will be behind us soon.

That is a tough gig and I wish you all the best with it. It's bound to take priority for a while so do what you can when you can. I'm sure once you get used to your new situation you'll find more time and head space. It's a very busy time of year too, so just go with the flow and try not to worry about it. You'll get there. best wishes.

Does your prison have either a staff gym or a time of day when the prisoners' gym is open for staff instead? Ours does. It might be possible sometimes to go on the dreadmill at lunch time or something - just over the winter - to give you a break from late night runs in the dark when you're so tired?

Yeah had a look today. only 30 mins lunch break so might look at going after finish if there’s no prisoner session in
