Hello I'm new, I'm not very smart phone able so this couch to 5k is proving comical. So now I'm on week 2, and learnt a really important lesson don't look ahead. I seem to get lost with my phone or perhaps accidently press hold, as I end up walking when I should be running. As for looking ahead, at this stage imagining be able to run 3 mins is difficult. I'm amazed at how my mind is more disabling than my physical ability.
Motivation is difficult. : Hello I'm new, I'm... - Couch to 5K
Motivation is difficult.
keep going
Don't look ahead at the schedule but always look ahead when you are running. You'll run into less lamp posts! Some runs are more about the mental than the physical, when the gremlins tell you it's too hard just scan your body, if your legs can still move and you can still breathe you can keep going. The gremlins are little liars! Go out each time with curiosity and you will be fine. Good luck!
Oh, technical advice is not my thing. What I will say is once you get the podcast working, put your player in your pocket and leave it alone. If you end up walking when you should be running, it doesn't really matter, at least you're moving. I used to try pausing whilst waiting to cross roads etc and got in a pickle too, just leave it to play and keep moving (jog on the spot), you can always continue to run during the cool down if you feel the need, then add your own cool down after.
You've already learned two great lessons Vicxc - don't bother looking ahead- just take each running day one at a time.
And yes, it's as much, if not more, about mental attitude than physical ability.
Good luck with the rest of week 2
Yes I've had my fair share of technical problems over the last few weeks as many others on this forum have. I agree with the comments already posted about one runday at a time. Freaked me out looking ahead and messes with your mind. Just keep moving I had to make one up and there's less instructions when you progress further. Would also recommend you keep following this forum and posting it is hugely motivating as so many of us seem to start from a point of no running at all. I really didn't think I could break into a run when I started but I've just completed w5r1 today. I do remember thinking '3 mins in one go! No chance' but you will surprise yourself. Don't be afraid to repeat runs when life or injury gets in the way. Sending you positive thoughts!
Argh tech !!! Failures can strike at any time, everyone is right , start it, put it away , focus on the run you are doing.
This is all about I can do it , get it right mentally and you won't go far wrong ☺
Thank you all!! I've got goosebumps, It just goes to show how people power is the best motivator. I will keep you informed, I think that will make me work harder.
I'm 64 struggling ran when I was 30 can I do it again have good day's and bad
We downloaded the podcasts on the website onto our i-pods so we could just play them with Laura's music while we ran...
Later on after graduating started to record my run details on strava on my phone, but still use my i-pod for music or the c25k+ podcasts. You don't get issues with loss of signal either.
Good luck with week 2. Take it steady, one run at a time and you will surprise yourself as you move through the plan.😊
