Week 9 run 2 was another killer. I felt really off after only 5 mins and pretty much struggled up until the 20 min mark. I did feel ok up until Laura said one minute left. Just about held on for that final minute. Couldn’t of run any further and only have a couple more minutes of running before i hit 5k. Although at this present time 2 extra minutes seems an impossibility. Even though I ran for 32 mins last week when I finished the last run of week 8. I suppose I just need to sort my head out as I’m running full of self doubt. Not a pleasant feeling.

Maybe slow down? You seem to have a fast pace there, and don't forget it's not about 5k it's about running comfortably for 30 mins. You can start to extend the time/distance in consolidation. The whole running thing is about mind over matter. Try and concentrate on something else other than the running - hard I know, but music, podcast scenery so you don't dwell on how knackered you feel. Also don't forget about the toxic 10! You CAN do this! 🏃🏃‍♀️💥

Thanks. I did have another bad food day yesterday as it was my daughter’s birthday so we had a family meal. I guess what you eat makes a massive difference. I’m back on the straight and narrow now so hopefully my last run should more comfortable.

Your doing fantastic. When I have struggled for motivation or struggled on a run, I remind myself that only a few weeks ago I nearly gave up running after 60 seconds and was waiting for Michael Johnson to say slow down to walk. Keep at it we are all with you

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

I really don’t know if I can have a conversation as I run by myself. But if I had to guess I’d say no. Although I do really keep my pace light I must just be naturally running faster as my fitness improves. I know my eating over the weekend hasn’t been great which also hampers me. Back on the straight and narrow now and hopefully Thursdays run should be better.

Next time you run speak this sentence out loud in one breath "Is my running pace slow enough to speak this sentence out loud without gasping?"

I’ll give it a try.
