A lot of people tell me that couch to 5K is a quick programme, but for the unfit (or unwell lol ) it can take a long time to get round to doing your next run. I think we need to stop getting disheartened if we get behind a few runs, or if you can’t go bc you’re sick or busy!
I’ve got yet another medical hurdle tomorrow that’s going to put me out of action for a good few days! My goal is to finish the programme by Christmas though, I’ve only got 9 runs to go!
Best of luck to anyone just starting - the time really does fly by once you start!

That's the joy of this programme, you can take as long as you need. Yes, a lot of us do it in the 9 weeks, but a lot don't, for a variety of reasons.
At the end of the day, this is a lifestyle change, so as long as you're getting out there and doing something when you can, it really doesn't matter how long it takes to work up to 30 minutes. Just enjoy the journey!
It’s true, most probably do, but I took 16 weeks to finish the programme. I didn’t feel disheartened by it but I was realistic and knew it would take me longer than most to finish. Nearly 50 runs later and I don’t regret anything. My pace isn’t speedy or anything but I regularly run 30 mins and occasionally through in a wee 5k to remind myself how far I’ve come.
Whether 9 weeks or 90 weeks it doesn’t matter, what matters is that you’re out there doing something good for your mind, body and soul.
I've repeated various runs along the way, So it takes as long as it takes. It is just a journey to get your fitness in better shape. I haven't finished yet in theory 5 more runs to go not going to stress.
I started in July, and just managed W7R2, injuries to calf muscles, achilles tendons etc., etc., like you determined to get there by Christmas, was hoping to do a park run before then, but might be pushing it. Best of luck, keep at it , you'll get there!!
