I have just finished week 6 run 3 in the pouring rain, dark and I thought what is wrong with me why am I doing this?
But then Michael said you can call yourself a runner!
I am so pleased I have started this journey THOUGH I am a perfectionist and just want to start running a little faster. When will that happen?
I do not stop and completed each run and know I should be pleased and I am but I want to do more.
I am a little older than 30 well 40 well .... but would love some tips to increase my speed. I always go a little faster at the end of each run to push myself but do not want to do anything silly.
Everybody is so proud of me and I am proud of myself but again a perfectionist.
Any tips or just follow the program?
Thank you

C25K is designed for new runners, who need to build stamina and strength before they push hard to develop speed, which is why the recommended pace is one at which you can speak clear ungasping sentences as you run. The perfectionist should follow the plan and the recommended pace.
Once you graduate you can follow the advice in the guide to post C25K running healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which basically says stay slow for 80% of your running. The majority of new runners spend far too little time running slowly and do not push hard enough on their fast paced runs......most of their running is in the middle range, which is the least beneficial to overall development.
Speed comes with strength. Strength comes through continued hard work and more miles on your legs.
Thank you, I know I am doing the right thing by running slowly and when I have completed I may build up speed or not. I will follow the program to the end and not be impatient!
