Couched with leg pain!

Hi everyone. Im on week 5 and completed run 2 on sunday. All was going well... until i woke this morning with the most awful pain in my right leg today. Not being a wimp but i can barely walk on it. Im gutted. Not only am i enjoying the running and feel im achieving something, its a mood enhancer too. Im feeling better in myself and happier in myself after each run. Today im scared ive done damage and that ill be laid up until this goes. Feels like tightness and a real sore ache behind knee. Just putting weight on it is torture. Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance

If you’ve rested up today and it feels no better tomorrow then the best thing is to seek advice from a qualified medic as soon as possible. If it’s nothing much you’ll be reassured, and if it’s something more complex you won’t have made it any worse. A day or two of extra rest - even a week - will do no harm and you may find you even come back stronger. Hope everything is back to normal soon x

By all means, get it checked out. But it hopefully just needs rest. Have you had a gait analysis done and bought some good quality running shoes? I went as far as week 8 (foolishly) without doing so and ended up with knee problems which stopped me running for 6 weeks, but since buying my new shoes, running is definitely easier - impact is reduced, and they should also reduce the risk of injury through incorrect pronation. If you haven't done it yet, I heartily recommend you get a gait analysis and buy the best running shoes you can afford - it's investment in protecting yourself.

Thank you everyone. My plan was to attend our local running shop this week. Gait analysis and new shoes was going to be my payday treat. Instead Ive booked assessment and sports massage for later today. Im trying to be positive... the weather here is awful so maybe id not be out running anyway. But id rather that choice was made my me rather than sore legs. Thank you again everyone for the advice. Happy running 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️
