Really enjoyed this today: as everyone else says you never imagine in week 1 you will get to running 20mins but it was great! I tracked it and my pace is crazy slow: I know itโs what is needed but 5k would be about 45mins!! However, I was so conscious of taking it slow that it felt easy and at each 5 minute time point I thought โwow, already?โ I increased the pace for the last 5 because I could. No bad thing I guess. It was good for my mental health as well today as Iโve been feeling quite negative recently. Looking forwards to the second half of this programme ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ
Week 5 run 3 ๐: Really enjoyed this today: as... - Couch to 5K
Week 5 run 3 ๐
Well done - that's great ๐. I done the same run yesterday and was actually slower than some of my previous weeks. Was so conscious of completing it that I must have had snails ๐ taking over me. However, mentally I did it so next time I know I can do it so if I go a bit faster I won't freak out. Week 6 - here we come. We can do it - the program works ๐
Molly we are actually just over 1/2 way, I love your photo and the view of where you are running.
I actually ran for a less distance than I did in the previous shorter runs, I must have slowed right down because I knew I had to keep going for longer, at this pace 5k is going to take me an hour
Thatโs exactly what I did! I was really slow and probably slowed it down more than really necessary. I love the thought of being over half way! Re. the photo: I usually run on the local streets which are a bit hilly. Itโs ok most of the time but I finish uphill so it can be really tough. I decided to run by the canal, so flat, today for this first โlongโ run. Back to hills again on Sunday, all being well. x
Superb run... negative splits too! Nice.
45 minutes, 20 minutes, 5k is 5k... your pace will be your pace and if we start with our first 5k being โslowโ we can get more PBs in the future ๐
Slow and steady into week 6, then you got this.
Thank you UNM! I was inspired by someone else at the same stage as me planning to do park run on 22/12 for her graduation but then saw the times at my local (hilly) run and am chickening out as I WILL be last ๐๐
Iโve yet to do one since I started this programme... so I have started one parkrun... I was last (but one)... I had a great time. Almost donโt want to ruin that stat! Thereโs a tail walker whoโs job it is to come last, so youโll beat them. Iโm up to 22 volunteerings I think it is now. Weโd
Love you to come to ours for 22/12, your local one will too.
Thank you! Where is yours?! I expect itโll not be in my neck of the woods...!
Glossop technically, though Iโve yet to go there at all ๐
I was proudly 42 minutes for my first 5k. Right after graduating. So 10 weeks after not being able to run for more than a minute. I am constantly overwhelmed by the awesomeness of this programme and the encouragement of everyone on here, and so proud of my slow slow pace, which is improving all the time.
And btw I was not last.
Don't worry about times just follow the programme. As you get fitter your times will improve. Do go and try a parkrun it's awesome. I did my 1st last week and loved it and I was on wk5r1 at the time. Other commitments mean I can't do Parkrun for the next 3 weeks and I'm gutted. Well done for running 20 mins
