Bit of a set back :-(

Wednesday, there I was, 15 mins into W9R1 happy as Larry. Well maybe not that happy.

Then suddenly I got a sharp pain in my left calf. I'll just keep going I said to myself.

Sure enough I actually made it to 30min and even managed to cover 4.6km.

After the warm down walk, it seemed to get worse. So I applied an ice pack for an hour or so and then the next day I switched to heat.

Here I am 2 days later and it's much improved but I decided, for once, I better not push myself. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes.

Today would have been W9R2 and I'm feeling miserable and feeling sorry for myself. I'd got all the way to the last week without injury.

Anyway the plan is that I'll make my next run on Monday morning and perhaps drop the pace, as long as I can ignore that idiot inside my head going "go on Ian, push yourself ".

Ian

Yes, you certainly need to ignore that idiot! I run with a coach reminding me to slow down all the time instead 😀

Welcome to the IC... May your stay be short and your next run be pain free.

You have my sympathy. I did the same w9r1 did 30 mins no problems, decided to push on to 5k, only another 7.5 minutes I thought, out for two weeks with foot injury. Oh well I'll restart week 9 next week and I guess we'll graduate at the some time!

The runs will still be there when you’re ready, don’t worry about a day or two extra repair, it’ll do you good! 🤞🏻for Monday!!
