2018 has been a rather naff year for running for me for various heath reasons & at one point I thought I would never run again. I must say how depressing that thought was & I must have started to believe it & my motivation spiralled downwards & getting out even to walk has been difficult.
Over the last few days though, a little spark of motivation has glowed in the past embers and is becoming brighter and I am thinking that I could restart C25K. It will be 2 years on 26th December since the first time I started the plan, when I set out with Michael Johnson’s encouraging voice in my ears.
I have just read through my postings of my journey through the plan, the excitement, trepidation and achievements I experienced and how determined I was to complete the whole 9 weeks. Reading through it and then reading about Michael Johnson’s determination to recover from his recent stroke has fired up my motivation. If he can find the determination to recover from a stroke then I can find mine to get back running. The time has come to blow the cobwebs off my kit and get outside. 😁

MJ is amazing... great coach and support her of UK athletics and then he suffers a stroke and still manages to use it to inspire others.
Welcome back... let’s do this again and feel that amazing post run rush.
I hear you!! I feel like I’ve gone backwards after months off due to injury and me just being a bit meh.
I need to get some sort of fitness activity going again. I find an early morning run or bike ride helps so much with stress and if you’re feeling a bit down.
I still haven't managed to get out but my kit has now made it indoors from my car so that's a positive. I need new arm & shoe lights so I am off to the shops today to get it. Will be strapping up a whinging ankle & foot & plan to get out there either today or tomorrow - it's absolutely throwing it down at the moment. I need to do it to help with anxiety & stress not to mention my increasing waist size I will let you know how I get on
When I am running, I prefer early mornings as I find it puts me in the right frame of mind to cope with the day. I am usually too shattered after work and the weather has been so wet. I don't mind running in rain but torrential downpours that we've been having is a no go
Yeah. I totally agree. It does help set you up for the day. That’s what I’ve missed I think. Running in the rain is a bit soggy though! 😬 it’s safer to go out in my swimming trunks when it’s tipping it down but I’d get some odd looks! 😂
Do you think it’s best to start the c25k from the beginning again or just see how it goes?
I am not going to restart from week 1 because I think I am able to run more than that - I will choose a week where I know I can run for the time; I usually go from about week 4.
