I’m into week 4 now and I wear my sketchers which are comfy and don’t cause me any problems while I run. Are they suitable?

Great job... and if you’re not experiencing problems maybe they are... sketchers do regular and running shoes I believe, and there’s also the argument of barefoot (minimalist shoes) running being better (controversial and not for everyone for sure) but you may find a good high quality running shoe, properly fitted, makes a huge difference.

Perhaps............but personally, I would say no.

Fashion trainers are not running shoes.

Running is a high impact pastime, with a relatively high incidence of injury. If you are going to take running seriously, then you owe it to yourself to have the best running shoes that you can afford.

I have sketchers “go run” love them to bits but noticed not much tread on them. Might invest in a better pair as a graduation present 😂😂

I’m in week 7 and still in my sketchers. But planning to do a gait analysis once I can drum up courage to do a run in a shop on a treadmill.

Do it - although it may be on the street outside, not in the shop! When I went to Run and Become in Cardiff, there was a constant stream of customers being taken outside to run up and down the pavement. Other shoppers barely noticed we were there. But it is so worthwhile. You do need the right shoes for your gait.

Once I finish the 9 weeks I’ll go buy proper running shoes. At the moment my Sketchers are fine & it’s a slow paced jog/run I’m doing.

I would say don't go beyond Week 5 without proper running shoes. I made the mistake of going up to week 8 and regretted it when my knees stopped me running for 6 weeks.

Sketchers go run trainers as well. They’re doing me well, but I am considering the gait analyse in the near future. Haven’t had any issues with my trainers so not gonna tempt fate

I wear Sketchers in the gym, I do one run per week on the treadmill and then do an exercise class. If they’re fine for you , all good , but my husband, who has run much more than me, advised me to get proper running shoes . I’m just about to start week 4 wearing them. I did the wet footprint test and ordered them. They’re perfect and not expensive.

?? What’s a wet footprint test ? Apart from the permanency test one of my kids did with a tin of paint once. Must sand that off some time. . .

I googled it first, it does exist. Dip your feet in water then walk on paper. It will give you some idea of your gait. You’ll get a guide on the web page to compare it with,

It won’t be as good as a sports shop .
