Strong start to week 4

I had a tough end to week 3 on Friday, still not entirely sure why but the last run was by far the hardest, legs felt wobbly and heavy and I lost my breath a lot quicker than on the previous two. So I was kind of dreading starting week 4 last night, and thought it was entirely likely I wouldn’t complete it. On top of that, when I was driving home from the station the heavens opened. I thought, wonderful – just what I need!

When I got home though, it struck me that it was a dark Monday November evening, and I was feeling really annoyed that it was raining because I *really* wanted to go out for my run. That in itself, I decided, was proving that this plan was definitely doing something to me! So I decided to wrap up and just go for it. I am so glad I did, because I amazed myself! I completed it all and it wasn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination, but it also wasn’t as tortuous as I was imagining, even with really heavy rain at points. I think I found a steady (snail's) pace that worked for me and would even go as far as to say I enjoyed it.

I can’t wait for my next run – and that’s a sentence I never thought I’d type! I know there will be more challenging runs ahead but I’m prepared to face them, because the feeling when you get through it is just so worth it.

Good luck to everyone else with your runs this week – we really can do this 😊

Brilliant well done. Tough runs can come at any time and are often unexpected. Mine came at w7r2 but your right, trust the plan it's brilliant. I started 10 weeks ago on my 62nd birthday and hope to do my graduation run on Saturday. Keep up the great running, don't worry about the tough ones and keep posting on here it's a great source of support, advice and motivation

That's wonderful - well done! I am starting to nervously trust the plan, I still can't see myself at the end of it but hopefully I'll get there! You've done so well - best of luck for Saturday!

Well done! I’ve had very similar experiences - some runs just hit you harder - and some (when confidence can be low) seem to go ok. If you can grind through the tough ones then the benefits will come.

Well done - keep going!

Thanks Auden, making me realise it's all part of the process! Can't believe how buzzing I was after last night, it's fab.

Well done you. I'm on to the last run of week four. I've been running with a cold so has not been easy but I didn't want to give up either x
