Congratulations on 🏃 a sub 30 minute 5k at age 57, not sure why you call yourself old, not old at 57. The Old man of Hoy is a big rock on Hoy Orkney. Hopefully you will be able to run🏃 a sub 28 minute 5K within 6 months.
Thanks for the warm words of encouragement AlMoor. On reflection I agree not old at 57. And I am pleased you picked up on my reference to the old man of hoy.
Welcome and congratulations on getting back up to 5k after a long time not running. The 28 will come by the sounds of it. I’m doing similar at the moment, and loving it. The motivation of reading about people completing this run and that run really does keep me inspired.
I’m pretty sure I’ll do it, and half looking at it for December, but I’m planning on following a 6 month 5k plan starting January, 2nd most likely, so that will be my full on attempt at it. My knees have been painful virtually every day for 30 years... since about the half way point on C25K I haven’t had even a twinge out of them, which was unexpected to say the least.
You don't say how you got started and whether you did C25k or not. You might find this guide to post C25k running helpful healthunlocked.com/couchto5... as it is relevant to all runners who can run for thirty minutes or more.
