Hello everyone.

Newbie here. I am 57 years old male just started to run again (last 6 months) after 20 + years of nothing.

Completed x2 5k runs this last week 10 seconds under 30 minutes on both occasions. Very happy and chuffed at maintaining my new lifestyle of exercise.

Final target in sight. Want to get to under 28mins for 5k. Could be another 6 months to get there but ready to keep going.

I have read other people’s personal achievements on here. Fantastic motivation for me. Please keep posting as I get inspired by others achieving.

Good luck

Congratulations on 🏃 a sub 30 minute 5k at age 57, not sure why you call yourself old, not old at 57. The Old man of Hoy is a big rock on Hoy Orkney. Hopefully you will be able to run🏃 a sub 28 minute 5K within 6 months.

Thanks for the warm words of encouragement AlMoor. On reflection I agree not old at 57. And I am pleased you picked up on my reference to the old man of hoy.

Thanks again

Welcome and congratulations on getting back up to 5k after a long time not running. The 28 will come by the sounds of it. I’m doing similar at the moment, and loving it. The motivation of reading about people completing this run and that run really does keep me inspired.

Thanks for your warm words of encouragement UnfitNiMore.

You too are doing really well in your return to running after what sounds like a nasty injury.

With you all the way. Keep going, confident you will reach your sub 25 min 5k.

Thanks again

😎

I’m pretty sure I’ll do it, and half looking at it for December, but I’m planning on following a 6 month 5k plan starting January, 2nd most likely, so that will be my full on attempt at it. My knees have been painful virtually every day for 30 years... since about the half way point on C25K I haven’t had even a twinge out of them, which was unexpected to say the least.

Thanks for your words too.

Welcome to the forum.

You don't say how you got started and whether you did C25k or not. You might find this guide to post C25k running helpful healthunlocked.com/couchto5... as it is relevant to all runners who can run for thirty minutes or more.

Thank you so much for sharing your information. Wow!!!! You have given me many more considerations to ponder, all of which, are very useful.

I am excited to think about what route I will take after a period of consolidation. You have helped me broaden my considerations, considerably.

Thanks again IannadoTruffe.

Much appreciate your mentoring.
