W9R2 abandoned :'(

I abandoned my #couchto5k W9R2 run !!!! ๐Ÿ˜’ My pace was far too fast and was gonna be sick. ๐Ÿ˜žโ˜น๏ธ

Pace was 5โ€™53โ€.. no wonder.. and I put a guided audio Nike Run Club guided audio 30min run instead of my usual @jowhiley #couchto5k app. What a ******.

So annoyed with myself. Will just have to redo W9R2 later tonight once I've rested and fuelled some more.

I kept telling myself to slow down and saying โ€œdonโ€™t stop keep goingโ€ but the nausea feelings kicked it.

Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™m not the first or last to bail one of the 27 runs on this programme. Just expected if ever to happen earlier not the penultimate one!!

Please tell me youโ€™ve had this too ???

Did you abandon it today?

If so you've had your run for today, take a rest/ repair day and you will do it on your next run.

I was aiming for a good run this morning, but it didn't happen, I only managed 17 minutes so I will defer it until Tuesday.

Yes it happens to us all I expect.๐Ÿ˜

You're so right. Will do W9R2 officially on Tuesday. Annoyingly I so feel all warmed up and buzzing now. But need to be sensible. You are right. Thank you for your advice. It's very much appreciated.

We'll both do better on Tuesday ๐Ÿคฉ

Don't rush it Chris you're doing brilliantly. Don't risk injury now. A day or two rest then you'll crush it ( slow and steady of course ๐Ÿ˜Š) Then it's just your final graduation run!

Thanks Stevie. I'd be daft to try again later today. Just not used to bailing out. :'( Was on a roll so to speak.

5.53 pace is too fast for a new runner, the next time you run week 9 run 2 you will know to pace yourself throughout the run, it would have been worse if you had to abandon your graduation๐ŸŽ“ run, that has happened to some people. Good luck with runs 2 and 3๐ŸŽ“ of week 9. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Don't worry! Ive had to abandon runs too (although never cos I'm too fast !! ๐Ÿข๐Ÿข๐Ÿข) Just take it steady and listen to Jo. If you've ran today I wouldn't go back out later. You'll soon be on the graduation podium

Chris you need some of my friends. Here, use these fellows ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Theyโ€™ll get you going slowly, no doubt about it! Send them back when youโ€™re done. Iโ€™m running rent-a-snail and they have others to help! ๐Ÿ˜…

Good luck on your upcoming slowness! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ

Yeah I need to meet the snail friends. Was clearly on a high from W9R1 speedy results. I'll rest up and deal with my failed attempt.

No run is wasted, even if it doesn't go to plan. That will have made you stronger mentally and physically, and you've learnt from it.

It's just set you up for smashing the next one (with the help of cheekychipmunks snails)!!

Yeah. Reading all the lovely replies from you all it really has made me realise itโ€™s not all negative. Was just my first ever fastest 1 mile run!

Thatโ€™s some good pace to have... as you get stronger and the endurance builds more youโ€™ll be running 5k at it. Youโ€™ve learned from today, itโ€™s made you stronger, itโ€™s made you fitter, and youโ€™ll get it next time.

Thereโ€™s several different guided runs at 30 minutes... the one with coach Bennett (just a run) is good as he keeps reminding you to slow down.

Take a rest, donโ€™t feel down, you have done what you did a few weeks ago! Enjoy beating it next time out.

Chris, don't bit yourself over it. Remember the wise words of one of our forum members: FAIL is only an acronym for First Attempt In Learning ;)

So call it a day, have a rest. Be happy that you went out and do your best. Be proud that you have gone so far. Rest, and the day after tomorrow go and smash that run ;)

Please have a rest and don't do 2 runs in one day or in consecutive days. Take care of yourself!

Don't beat yourself up. We all have good and bad runs.

Pace comes with time we have all gone off too fast. A lady in my club is constantly saying to me don't go off too fast Missus as she sometimes passes me because I have to have a little walk.

How long did you eat before your run? sometimes that makes you feel sick, there is no magic amont of time before just have to experiment

chrisc25k profile image
chrisc25kGraduate in reply to Beccym

Ran on empty tummy... not ideal I know but always loook to eat after running

Beccym profile image
BeccymGraduate in reply to chrisc25k

Maybe try a banana before you run then

That was fast. It would have killed me! I really have to watch my pace. I always start too fast. I can run a fast 4k. But then I can't get to 5. So I make myself go slow! I'm nowhere near as fast as you, a real snail but snail works for me!๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

chrisc25k profile image

Everyone has their own pace and I'm by no means fast. I'm not looking at getting to 5k in 30mins. Got close the other day but I'm in no rush to kill myself achieving it. It will come in time once the body aadjusts and the muscles get stronger
