Lovely to read that you are making a start! You will, I am sure, find IannodaTruffe guide very, very helpful. Take it all slowly and I hope that you really enjoy the plan. I started C25k at 61 and am now 62. There are plenty of runners here in there 60s and above.

I started in May aged 66. I agree about reading the link and you will have considered your general health etc. I was fairly fit when I started; regular dog walker, swimming etc, but had not broken into a run since my thirties. I took things really slowly, just concentrating on achieving the set times in the C25k runs (I didn't fret over distance or speed). I found that doing some non running exercises on the days between runs really helpful, both to strengthen my legs (knees in particular) and deal with any tightness from the previous day. Unless you are fit and/or very lucky you will develop some aches and pains and I found deciding whether to run through them or take a break more a matter of art than science! Others will have better advice. I needed to take a couple of weeks off around week 7 and went back to week 5 on my comeback. That apart, only a recent chest cold has stopped me running and then only for 9 days or so. So, no reason at all, given good health, why you shouldn't succeed without too many crises, and I would just take it very slowly while you explore your potential. Proper running shoes recommended for you from a specialist running shop are, in my view, a must, and make sure that you are well hydrated. The only other thing I would think about is your ultimate goal. Mine was to run longer distances(I have done 9k) slowly in lovely countryside on the basis that my sprinting days are long gone! Be kind to yourself and enjoy it. 🙂
