Have a sedentary job thought would try the Couch to 5k after all at weekend I ramble up to 7 miles. Day one today the 60 second run so difficult in fact could not manage the second 60 second was afraid I would collapse. I am about half a stone overweight non smoker...am despondently unfit :(

Ah well, if that's the case, C25K is for you ! Take it slow and steady, don't be despondent. Lots and lots of us found it much harder than we thought it would be at the beginning, but following the programme exactly will get you running for 30 mins at a time by the end. Good Luck and keep going.

If you are struggling then slow down, slow down so much you think you could walk quicker :) This programme isn't designed to break any records... it's designed to get you running for longer than you thought possible! Stick to it, trust it. You are capable of more than your mind believes and you can do it!

Don't you give up - the most important thing is that you went out and you DID it. :D <3 I did my first run on monday and I was only able to run 60 seconds (and i felt the same as you did, trust me xD). I was very disappointed at first, and I got home and just cried, but after speaking to people I realized how much of an achievement that really is. :D Today I had my second run, and although I still didn't finish the podcast, I managed THREE spurts of 60 seconds, and the first one came easily. :D On Friday i'm going to push it again - until I tackle the entire thing! :D

Some advice that the awesome people have given me here - you must take it slow. Slooooooooow, so so slow, and when you have slowed as much as you can, slow down some more. :D It doesn't even matter if your running is slower than your walking pace - it's the running motion that is important. Make sure you take your rest days, they are very important for your muscles to heal and strengthen. :D

If you feel like you can't run a 60 second burst, keep walking. You might feel like you can do the next one, or the one after. :D

Keep posting here, every time you run, and if you have any questions - the support and advice and kindness is overwhelming. :D I have total faith in you! We can do it together :D Hugs and sparkles :D x

Don't give up, like other people have said just go really nice and slow to begin with, there is a saying 'no matter how slow your going your still lapping the people on the couch' or something on them lines, even if you have to redo the first week a couple of times your still doing better than the people on the couches :) Good luck with your future runs. :)
