Week 6

Start week 6 next week. Mentally not sure about the longer runs. I seem to think I cannot do it. I'm only running/jogging at 7kph. Probably seems slow to some but I am not a runner and to get this far I am amazed. So here goes to week 6.... Eeek

Oh, this one's easy... your only problem really is that you know your pace as a number. This is generally unhelpful information whilst people are doing C25K and demonstrably it is not helping you as it is creating more self-doubt.

It's a running motion that matters not how fast it is. C25K is about finding the pace (by feel, not number) that *you* can sustain continuously for 30 minutes.

FWIW I have never come close to averaging that fast - but the point is that I continue to get out there and get my heart rate up and strengthen my bones and experience the joy of being outside.

GoogleMe is right -- knowing our pace as we run is the biggest negative thing that we face as runners. TRY to forget about it !! You may indeed be a slogger - but you MAY be an undiscovered World Champion. Just run!!!!

And the other benefit of not knowing whilst you are doing C25K itself is that it gives you something to look at and work with (if you wish) when you have completed the programme if you feel you need a 'purpose' to motivate you.

Thank you so much, I've been 'beating myself up' with pace timings recently thinking I needed to be running at a certain pace - I'm going to head out today with a different head on, I'm sure it's going to make things seem a whole lot easier in my head if not quite yet in my legs :-)

I never look at “numbers” or speeds just concentrate on getting through the app as it tells you no matter how slow. I do go slow! But find it easier to get my breath back between stops.
