Can I do this??

Am new to this site, am on week 6 and just completed run 2 in the pouring rain, I struggled last week as I did my first 20 min run, thought I wouldn’t make it, but I did, sometimes I feel I just can’t get enough air in to keep going!

Also, I am overweight, so I know I’m lugging around more than I should, but I just want to get fitter, please tell me it gets easier,

Welcome. Let’s see... 6 weeks ago one minute was a struggle I think... last week 20 was a struggle... so that was half way through the plan and you were running two thirds of the end duration... I’d say you can do this... don’t you think??

I don’t need to tell you it gets easier (it does btw) you’re out there proving it... it may feel just as hard, but you’re running so much more to feel that way than you were.

So, you can do this... and it gets easier... close this out, you’ve done most of the hard work.

Thanks, it’s just really ramped up now, I am pretty proud of how far I’ve come, and it’s great to see others posts from people who are doing the same, a real inspiration, going into run 3 on Friday with determination 😂

Great job so far... this is the one thing in life where you should look back... look at what you’ve done already... believe in yourself... don’t run too fast, there is no too slow... go bag run 3 and come back and tell us about it so we can celebrate it with you.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and explains pacing and breathing as well as many other topics.

Enjoy your journey.

Brilliant well done. Trust the plan it's amazing where it will take you. Each run and week prepares you for the next. Look forward to the new challenges with confidence. Always keep it slow and steady and if necessary go slower! This is about time not distance. Before you know it you'll be graduating

I know just how you feel. I’m one run behind you, 67 years old, 15 stone and running through the muddy autumn woods in the Limousin in France. I can’t believe I’ve made this progress. It’s hard every time. It has to be. But I feel so good. So proud of myself. And that makes a change...
