The last time I ran it was a real struggle and I only made it half way through before I had to stop. That was W7R3 about two weeks ago. It turned out I was right in the verge of coming down with a really nasty head cold that has made life quite difficult for a while. Anyway, that’s done with and I’m ready to get going again...well sort of. I got up this morning to go out and the temperature was 1 degree. From previous experience I know if I try to run in that I’m going to end up with a terrific headache even if I wear a cap. So what do other people do when the weather gets cold to avoid these problems?

Getting going again
You could try wearing a buff as well as a cap and pull it up so your breath is less cold , and maybe try a thicker hat. Sunglasses might help too Can you vary the time of day you go out, perhaps afternoon will be (a bit) warmer. Would a warm drink ( warm water with a bit of lemon or lime or even squash or tea) help, either beforehand or if you carry a drink with you. Hope you can get it sorted out.
Is running inside an option?
Bob hat.. pulled down and a buff pulled up. I suffer with sinus/headache pain and this combination works to stop that! Loads of Nivea all around your forehead, cheekbones etc can really help too
In some ways I think it's best not to think about it too much. It was hard getting out this morning, but after 5 mins of running I don't really feel the cold too much, and prefer it to the heat in a lot of ways. Lemon & ginger tea is a good warmer and I normally have a cup of that about 30 mins before a run. Best of luck in getting back to it, just try not to overthink it too much keep to the old mantra of taking it steady, and think of that feeling of achievement once you complete that next run! 😊
Thank you all. Some good ideas there and I will give them a go...apart from running indoors which isn’t an option unfortunately.
