Had to get out early this morning to do my Week 4 Third Run of C25K.
I knew I had a difficult meeting first thing and wanted to go into it with a clear head.
As I have mentioned before, I suffer from mental illness with chronic anxiety. Since starting C25K I have found that the runs help clear and focus my mind and makes a day more bearable. Had I left the workout till after my meeting, I would not be writing a progress report.
Today's run was amazingly comforting and I enjoyed it a lot better than Monday and Wednesday's runs.
One change I made was, I went out yesterday and bought an active-wear top and a breathable fleece. Previously I was running in a cotton t-shirt and a softshell jacket. These make you sweat and then stay wet where as the new clothing dried as I ran.
Glad to have completed Week 4

Not just new gear, but the right gear is so important as one of your articles re: trainers pointed out.
My friend wants me to do the West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William next July, so I had popped into a specialist shop to get advice and mentioned C25K and the assistant basically said, "other than the footwear, the clothing would be very similar!"
Hence the new active wear. That's my excuse any way LOL
Thanks for the encouragement and fore warning. It's amazing that when I look ahead to the next run, it doesn't fill me with dread, but I look at it and say to myself, "I can do this!"
My only problem with Third run next week, is it falls on the Friday, which is going to be a hellish day for my anxiety as I have a critical meeting later in the afternoon. I think I will be doing the same as I did today and getting out early, to try and help me put me in a better frame of mind.
You are doing really well. Nice start to the day too. Don’t forget your runs can be done to suit yourself, there’s no need to stick to a strict schedule if life gets in the way.
The West Highland way jaunt will be great next year and you will be so fit (not to mention having lots of gear by then😀)! That will make it even more enjoyable.
Thanks AnnieW55 for your advice. Because of my mental health I need a set routine and weekends are too busy filled with either, my daughter, or travelling around the country. I do take on board what you say though. 👍
Looking forward to doing the West Highland Way, but don't want to buy too much 😂 it's nearly a hundred miles! 😉
Thought that might be the case. Actually the early mornings a great ...... once you’re out there 😀. In the summer I had to do really silly o’clock to get the miles in before work and the heat hit.
Thought about the Proclaimers song (500 miles) next but you’ll be a bit short! We carried everything when we did it a few years ago. It was amazing.
