Hello everyone, so tonight's the night I am going to start the C25K...I've wanted to do it for a while now but my excuse for waiting until now is that I was waiting for the darker evenings so nobody would see me but I've got all the gear (and no idea) now so this evening I will be heading out on the school field at the end of my road to do run 1 and I'm taking my dog for company!
I've never been a runner before, the only thing I run at the moment is the bath but this year I've been on a health kick with regular exercise and healthy eating and have so far lost 4 stone in 10 months so my next challenge is running!
Wish me luck and if I don't die* this evening I will be back to update on how it went!
*I have a tendency to exaggerate.

Welcome to C25k! And yay to making the decision to run! Take the runs really slowly tonight, it isn’t about sprinting. The first run and the first week are the hardest. Also don’t worry if you can’t do it at first, I certainly couldn’t. Just repeat the run again until you can. A minute is a long time to run if you aren’t used to it. But you will have a virtual cheerleading squad behind you. Enjoy your journey and keep us posted 😀🏃♀️🏃♀️😀
Hi. Well done on starting C25k. W1r1 is probably the hardest, 9 weeks ago I did W1r1 and wondered how I would ever get to 30 mins as was struggling to run for 1 minute, but yesterday I did my 1st 30 minute run. It feels great.
Welcome. Go slow and steady and you shouldn’t be needing luck.
We have had no reports of that first run actually killing anybody, and also there have been no instances of anybody anywhere drowning in their own sweat (or anybody else’s)
Go have fun... if you can’t talk while running this you’re going too fast, so have a good chat with that dog as you go.
Thank you everyone for the kind words and support. I didn't quite make it to the full 20 minutes but I did 10 minutes and I didn't die. Even if it feels like it right now! Running non stop for 30 minutes seems impossible right now but watch this space!
Went back out last night and completed the first run and felt very good for it! The difference was I hadn't had my evening meal beforehand so that's one to remember for all my runs now!
