I've just completed W8R1, and feeling very proud of myself. I must say it wasn't that easy, and I wasn't able to go more than my steady pace, despite encouragement from Jo Whiley to go faster. But at least I did it! I bought some expensive Brooks running shoes after a gait analysis a few days ago (which luckily showed that both feet run pretty evenly). I went for a walk in them yesterday to try them out and came back with blisters on both heels. On reviewing my trusty old Mizuna trainers, I find they have a 'v' on the heel and they don't rub at all. I'm thinking of taking the Brooks ones back, despite them being very light and comfortable otherwise (and buy some others with a 'v'), but maybe I should keep them and run them in. Any similar experiences and suggestions gratefully received!

I’d be worried if they’re causing blisters on a walk to be honest.
Why not take them back to the shop and see what they advise?
Do you wear running socks?
They are designed to minimise rubbing that causes blisters.
Thanks very much for your replies. I took the shoes back to the shop (Intersport) today, and was told that they wouldn't give me a refund as there was nothing wrong with them. He was such a nice young man that I didn't go into the 'not fit for purpose' argument! He didn't have much choice in the shop but is now ordering me some Mizuno Prodigy shoes, as I had been fine with my old Mizunos. The price is over £30 more than the Amazon price which is a bit annoying, but at least they did the gait analysis for me last week. Iannoda, I have ordered some up-to-date running socks too. I must say I'm enjoying the C25K challenge so much, and the helpful forum too. I hope to 'graduate' next week, just before I to off to Chile for a two-week tour, and am hoping I'll be able to find at least one place to run while I'm away.
