Bad day?

Finished week 6 with a 25 minute run, and HATED every second of it. I was really looking forward to that run all day, then as soon as I started running, I got the demons that I’ve been hearing all about.

So this evening is the start of week 7, with another 25 minute run, no interval runs left for me now 😩 (I look forward to the walks in between) I’m not looking forward to this one at all, even though I’ve already completed 25 mins, i keep remembering how hard it was and feel like 😭

Was it just a bad day/run? Or have I stopped enjoying it? I shall let you know later 😐

Sounds like a bad hair day sucky run to me... which means this one should be smoother. The demons are very likely on that first 25 minute one... and they tried their hardest to stop you... but they couldn’t do it because you’re stronger than them. A couple of them will still be around in the shape of bad memories of the last run... so go nice and slowly and slay them. Once you’ve graduated you can do some interval work again, so don’t worry about that, you’re now running towards having some walk breaks again. Go get it.

Everyone's different, but my W6R3 was also a bit of a nightmare, and like you I didn't look forward to the long, uninterrupted runs in the weeks ahead. However, W7R1 turned out to be fine. Good, even. 😌

I'd say just write this off as a bad day and set off for W7R1 in the knowledge that you *can* do it (after all, you did W6R3, even if you hated it!), and that it's unlikely to be quite as bad again. Try starting off a bit slower, as everyone always says. You can always speed up a bit later if you feel you're running within yourself (in fact, I think the app really encourages you to do this in W7).

All the best for next week. You can do it! 😎

I had a run (think it was one of the 20 min jobs) where I literally broke down after two minutes, with no idea why, I just wasn't able to do it. That was the first time I'd not been at least able to light jog my way around - it's happened a couple of times since too, but I just walked a bit and ran again, I did a 10+10+12 mins run a couple of weeks back when I should have done a 30 min. Way I look at it is something isn't quite right and chalk it up to experience, try again the next time and (hopefully) it'll be better!

You could be describing me at that stage - I SO struggled with the idea of continuous running. In fact I seriously debated “jeffing” after the end of the program. However I did W7 very slowly with lots of distraction therapy & by W8 it was much better. 😃 I never did “jeff” after all!

Hi Puffed-out! I did not quite enjoy W6R3 last Friday either and was not so looking forward to W7R1 today. So similar to you... and I went out today and it felt easier, I even went faster and not on purpose. I would say, do not worry, go for it and you most likely will find it more manageable!!! You have done it once already 💪💪💪
