I know it's been several months since I last posted anything. Probably because nothing has changed within that time.
I regret going for gait analysis now, I really do. Because within 2 weeks of wearing the shoes recommended to me, my right foot and heel started to hurt.
Never had any pain before with the trainers that I had selected for myself. I tried to get the exact pair back but the design had changed & so they didn't feel the same.
So here I am still in pain and struggling every moment with this heel pain.
Feel like crying as I type this because I was making great progress with my new found love and had also graduated. I actually graduated in pain and I think that was my last run. Have been told by my Dr's to stop for now since then.
So for now, I continue with the 101 remedies for Plantar Fasciitis and pray everyday that this goes away.
Hoping you all are well & are still clocking up those miles. 😊

I'm not liking this because I like this, I'm liking it out of solidarity, OK?
I've not too much wise stuff to say I'm afraid, other that I really hope things get better and you can start running again. Might be worth seeing a proper sports physio who will be able to tell you what is safe to do and what not to, she/he may well be able to give you exercises to do which can help minimise the downtime, and probably decent gait analysis too.
I know it looks a bit bleak at the moment, but try to stay positive, you will be back running again before too long, I'm sure.
Take care,

Thank you Neil. Yeah it's been a long few months and I'm almost ready to chop off my right foot and to find a new one. Seeing my Dr again next week, so will see if any further suggestions are made.
I got plantar a year BEFORE I started running so I'm not sure it's necessarily your shoes. It is painful. My advice is do the exercises (Google search) or go to a physio. I've just returned to running after sciatica- paid for 3physio sessions. Best use of £££ ever. Hope things improve.
Hiya, everything was fine before I started wearing the new shoes. They're the only things that were of change during that period. I was perfectly fine up until that point. Oh well these things happen sometimes I suppose. It's frustrating but fingers crossed I can get this sorted asap.
Go back to the shop if you think the shoes they selected are not right for you. If they are making you heel strike and your old trainers didn’t that could cause PF. If they are a good shop they will help, but you do need to tell them. Good luck
Hiya, I didn't think that I could've been entitled to that but I just happened to speak to a work colleague the other night who was a ex manager of the company I used and she told me that I was definitely able to return the shoes. So even after 4 months I called them this morning and explained and yes I can go back to the store and if nothing else get an exchange for something else. So at least the money spent isn't wasted.
I had that a few years ago Nd it is incredibly painful. One thing that helped me was to sit with a cold (freezer cold) bottle of water under my foot and roll it back and forth while I watched tv. I had it in both feet at the same time and walking was excruciating- I really feel for you.
Hiya, ouch.... both feet. I don't know how you managed. I've only got it in the right foot and some days I'm reduced to tears. Yeah I use the frozen water bottle too, along with a massage roller, foot cast to sleep in, medication from the Dr, other exercises too but it just won't get lost and go away. Not a happy bunny right now.
It's a shame your hurting and had to stop running. I hope things get better and your back on the road or track or running machine. Take care and let us know how thing go. 👍
So sorry to hear this. But well done for what you've achieved so far! Glad you're going to take the shoes back. I haven't had pf but had an ankle problem which made part of my heel tender. I got some brilliant ankle/foot supports which are for pf - Camari - Amazon sell them. But the one thing that's always helped me with running niggles is to see a good sports physio. They can work on relieving the pain & give specific exercises to strengthen. The one thing I hadn't appreciated before I started going is how connected all the tissue is in our bodies & quite often it's an area further away from the injury site which needs attention due to the way our ligaments, tissue, muscles etc connect to each other. You may pay £30-35 a time but it is so worth it. I also get my stressed neck & shoulders unknotted at the same time! Hope you're up & running soon. X
Sorry you are in pain Donna, my husband developed PF after years of running, but is wasn't due to the running. He had started wearing different shoes, namely Vans, or Converse rather than the boots or trainers he previously wore.
It took a long time before he was pain free.
Maybe see a sports physio rather than your GP, no disrespect to the GP, but I think the physio will have more knowledge.
I have enormous sympathy. Just when you find your happy place, this comes along. I read through the other comments, and there is much wisdom there. Really good news that the shoe shop will help.
Not to disparage your doctor, but not all of them run and so may not understand runners, they are also massively overworked. It's expensive to see a sports physio, but, as others have said, you might consider it. I found the physio much more help and faster than the doctor - plus for £50 I got an hour of a specialist.
I agree with everyone above and, like Slinky says, lots of the tissues in our bodies are interconnected. In fact, I had to drive Mr NW to see a sports Physio just this morning for excruciating lower back pain. As well as treating his back she discovered misalignments in calf and foot and worked on those too - he's doing much better already. I have had PF for about 2 years due to a standing job I used to do. I haven't done that job for a year now but still my left heel is agony pretty much every day. Mine emanates from over tight Achilles so I do lots of stretches plus I bought some great foot/heel supports from Amazon earlier this year. If I can find them again I'll copy the link. I wear it whenever I'm going for a long walk or run and then for the rest of the day. And yes, I've booked in to see the sports physio too.
GET the treatment, DO the exercises and DON'T give up! Good luck.
Hi donna ...so sorry about your foot ...fingers crossed you will heal and get trainers that suit ..you were an inspiration whilst i was doing my c25k ...take care and hope your running again soon 👍
This will pass Donna...you know you can run now. Wishing you all the best for your recovery. We will still be running with you when you make your recovery runs. xx
Thank you. I cant help but wonder where I would be right now if it wasn't for my foot. But as soon as my foot sorts itself out, I'll be out and starting all over again.
Donna, lovely to see you again and very sorry about your PF.
I can suggest you check out a product called “Feathersprings”
They are inserts that I can only describe as “They absolutely work!!”
I was born with deformed foot bones. If the Docs had known what was what, the bones would all have been surgically broken and reset but no such luck. By age 30 I could not stand still, and walking was restricted to less than twenty minutes, because of pain. My PF muscles are literally shredded and I was told I would be wheelchair bound by my mid forties.
I had fantastical good medical insurance up to a point - the point being where I wanted both feet amputated because I was heart sick of injections, nerve conduction tests and an unending series of orthotics and the false hope they would bring (plus I would have been wearing Clowm shoes and Frankenstein boots with those)
Saw the ad for Feathersprings and all the promises benefits, ordered a pair simply out of anger and was going to expose their lies...and now I run ten miles.
You can still roll a marble under the arches of my feet - but since 1992 I’ve never been restricted in standing, walking and since 2016 the “impossible “, running.
They have an ironclad money back guarantee so even apart from the above I have every confidence in being able to recommend them
(I am not involved with them except as a customer - absolutely no commissions, discounts or ANY rewards for telling people about them )
Hi John. Thank you for the info. I'll will look in to them straight away. I've been using some heel grips by Tulis and they're great but I'm willing to give something else a go. Nice to hear from you also.x
