Got such a painful stitch in 2nd minute of the second 3 minute run I felt unable to run any further at all. I'm probably trying to go to fast, which keeps happening so something I need to work on. Going to repeat today's run on Friday and see if that goes any better.

Yes, that does sound like youโre trying to go too fast.
Maybe try taking smaller steps?
Or concentrate on your breathing - this one should definitely help you with your stitch - or posture while you run? I find having to multitask slows me down.
If you do get a stitch Iโve always been told to lift my arms over my head as it opens up your airways (probably not proper terminology) and try to keep moving, even if only very slowly.
Hi Letsgo,
Argh that sounds like today just wasn't your day to run. Keeping my fingers crossed for Friday for you. I'm sure it will be better. They do say even a bad run is better than no run. so well done any way
It's worth slowing it down if you are getting a stitch. Maybe listen to slower music? I find that the music I listen to seems to determine my pace?
Friday will be a better day
Good call. Don't injure yourself by pushing it.
Do you use a phone app or some other way of recoding your runs?
Try going at a pace close to your fast walk speed.
You may read some posts that refer to energetic shuffling as their running style.
Let us know how you get on.
It's great to see you're not giving up! ๐ธ
Thank you for replying. Yes, I use strava so I'll keep an eye on my pace on Friday. I'm not going to give up, so determined to see this through!
The slow down bit has been already said lots, - I agree.๐
I had some very helpful advice on here about getting rid of a stitch - big breath in & huff it out with a sharp breathy โhaโ. A few of these do the trick for me - although it may be rather startling for nearby dog walkers! ๐
