Well finally completed W4R2, then did a weight training session and after that ran for 19 minutes without stopping. I feel like a cheat though as I did this run on a treadmill at the gym. I didn’t think I would be able to after falling off my bike yesterday but I did and I feel great. Run 3 here I come😁😁😁

It’s not cheating it’s just different....

If you keep mixing up gym/treadmill with outdoors that’s a great mix to make you a good all-round runner.

Good luck for your R3

I have joined my local gym so on wet days (which we have many in Wales) I can still run as I hate running in the wet and being wet through to my underwear ☹️

Who's that guy in your profile photo ?

Well done for carrying on after falling off your bike

I see you are running for a lot longer

You of little faith 🤔👍🏻

in reply toJen58

Jen I felt like I was cheating because it was done on a treadmill

My wife says it’s the animal that most resembles me. My spiritual animal. Now I don’t know if she means fat and hairy or big strong and protective, it could go either way with her 😂

I can’t keep up with you! One minute you’re saying you can’t run for 5 minutes, then you fall off your bike and say you can’t run for a while, all of a sudden you’re on week 4 and running over 10 minutes!! That’s amazing progress!

I was on a treadmill yesterday for the first time and I must say I found it quite tough compared to my usual outdoor run. I didn’t seem to cover as much ground as expected.

So I’d say you’re doing really well and are nearly half way there! 👍🏼

Jude I feel like I cheated yesterday because I did it on a treadmill, I felt great that I went that far but it is a lot easier on a treadmill so am I a cheat?

I even upped my pace which was a great suppose.’ I then did a gym session with my son as he is training for the “Tough Mudder” run in Bristol. 😎

I really didn’t find the treadmill easier. Boring yes and possibly easier on the joints but I was still really tired. And the fact that you did 18 minutes more than caters for a 5 minute run outdoors.

I really think you’re capable of far more than you realise and probably a bit fitter too than you thought. You go out on bikes with your kids? I didn’t. Far too strenuous for me! I struggle with that sort of exercise.

Stick to the program and you’ll get there.

in reply toJude1963

Jude, I’m a people watcher so running in the gym was a distraction as I’m concentrating on watching other people.

I like busy areas but running outside I become a people dodger but I really enjoyed doing it on the treadmill😁

Well done 👍🏻 even in that gorilla suit? 🤣

in reply toCatbee

It’s not a suit it’s meeeeeee🤪

That puts me to shame - running after that nasty fall off your bike. Well done! I'm planning on doing most of mine on a treadmill so hopefully it's not cheating! It's funny how we are all different - I love the gym. Maybe because my gym have these great treadmills that have a screen on them so you can choose to run through woods or countryside or towns, etc. It takes your mind off the fact you are running. I really enjoy it.
