Well that wasn’t easy!! I know what the problem is, pace. On average my pace is 6.53. I know it’s to fast as I’ve not yet grown my running legs or stamina. I still have Oldflosses mantra. I must listen a little harder me thinks. Onward to week9. Happy running allπŸ‘πŸ»

Thanks Rooster, l need to slow it down & gain more stamina. If l want to run longer distances my current pace needs to change plus I’m no spring chicken!!!!

It's really hard slowing down from what feels like your natural pace (and your pace is fast!)

I have to concentrate on every step to do it, but you're right, slower is easier.

Good luck with week 9. The podium awaits!

Thanks Tartancat. Right, I’m listening to you all, next run will be slower than a 🐌(thanks cheeky). I know it’s the way to goπŸ‘πŸ»

Look at you, speedy Gonzales! My pace is anything from 7.00 to 8.15 or so, depending on how I'm feeling and it can vary wildly on the run itself. Run however you feel comfortable, but if your struggling, sloooooow doooooown ...

Defo need to slow down if l want to run further. Think l need to turn the volume up on Oldflosses mantra!! My brain still thinks it’s a teenager, my body knows it 61πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£Happy running πŸ‘πŸ»

You can hurt yourself so slow it down. The time to speed up us when those running legs are built. Slow running and non run days build legs

It takes 18 to 24 months. As you go further, running for longer, You get stronger. You do other exercise on non run days.

You’ll do it but it takes time and patience. The last thing you need us to be laid up with an injury. Rome wasn't built in a day Take care πŸ’ͺπŸ‘πŸ˜ƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Old! I’m soon to be 61 I feel better than I ever did 😁

I’m already there misswobble!!The β€œOldlady” bit is used when l don’t want to do a particular activity with my grandchildren🀣🀣(terrible oldlady that l am!!). I’m not actually trying to run fast & have no real desire to do so. When running, l feel I’m going slow, but obviously not, or at least not slow enough. I shall just have to β€œtry harderβ€πŸ‘πŸ»

I have to play balloon football with the tots. My husband sneaks off to another room to hide 🀨 so I’m it 😁. I like it that they ask me to play or take them to the park, or go to see the horses or out on the bikes. They know I will and I can. I went on the skateboard park with the four year old he let me borrow his scooter. Great fun 😁

Well I’m on Nainy ( welsh for grandma) duties for 3 of them -only twice a week (use to be 5) 8.30am -5.30. Another lives with us & her mummy. So l look after her when mummy is working. The other 3 live in Oz☹️. So much of my life is hectic lol. Running gives me an escape from all that. I just need to slow down & enjoy πŸ˜‰ Thanks misswobble, l know I’m not alone πŸ‘πŸ»

Wow that is fast!!!

If you want to slow it down -and i realize it's difficult: i tried to do interchanging speeds and going slower was so hard!-my advice is to download a podcast with music at a steady BPM you choose. Only running in step with the beat can change your natural ways! It might mean shorter or wider steps but after some beats you do it.

Oldlady57 profile image
Oldlady57β€’ in reply toMayanow

Good advise Mayanow!! The problem is l like a good beat despite my age. Seriously, l will look into this. At the mo l run without music. A decision l made previously due to the same problem πŸ‘πŸ»

The BPMs will determine the speed. 155 for example is much slower than 160bpms! You will be amazed how it disciplines you - unless... you're tone deaf!! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚.

This is interesting to me as we are at about the same stage and also going at about the same pace.

I had been going at just over 7min/km from W6R3 to W7R2, then found W7R3 really hard, and realised afterwards that I had gone quite a bit faster - 6:47/km. So, I consciously slowed it down in W8R1 (back to 7:14) and seriously found it THE EASIEST THING EVER. As a result, today in W8R2 I was comfortable picking the pace back up again and got myself back down to 6:55, quite comfortably (that is, I felt I was pushing myself, but I felt more than capable of it).

Best of luck with the rest of the programme!

I think if l can run around 7:5 I’d find it more a comfortable run. Not bothered about distance currently (as in 5k in 30mins), that will come later when l have grown my running legs. You sound like your doing fab BR especially your run times!!! See on the podium really soonπŸ‘πŸ»
