HOLY MOTHER OF MARY THAT WAS SOOOO GOOD! and I’m not referring to doughnuts!! 🍩

The difference a day of rest makes (+stretches) and back running on the familiar pavements.

Please can the rest of the course be like this???

#couchto5k Week 5 Run 2. What a joy!!!

- 5min brisk walk warm up

- 8min Run

- 5min brisk walk

- 8min Run

- 5 min brisk walk warm down

Clearly the body is adjusting. Preferred the longer stints and not having to keep switching to walking.

Breathing much more regulated and have lovely endorphine glow now 😊

Do I get extra points for running on holiday. Gotta fit Wk5R3 in. In Ireland rest of the week :)

in reply tochrisc25k

Definitely extra points! I used the hotel gym treadmill on w8. It felt good to keep with the plan 🙂

You can reward yourself with extra points for running on holiday, many people do report that they enjoy running on holiday, including running whatever week they are on C25K.

Well done super star!! I really need to sort my breathing out. It doesn’t help that I’m a mouth breather so when I run I sound like a hyperventilating elephant 🐘🤷🏽‍♀️

You have a new Instagram follower 😉

A Yes deep breathes oxygenate your body. It needs it. Thanks for the follow :)

I dunno if I read that right... but I’m getting a feeling that you might have had a little fun out there?!

Great run... and onwards to run 3, enjoy.

Yes much enjoyment and the 8 mins seemed to go really quickly. Intrigued why Run 3 is a straight 20mins. Thats a big jump from 8min x2

UnfitNoMoreGraduate in reply tochrisc25k

It’s 20 because you’re ready.... and it’s not a big jump really. Trust, believe, relax, slow and steady!

Slow and steady is the key for sure. Need to work out route as abroad now for rest of the week.

There’s an app called footpath... great for plotting routes and gives elevation changes... I use it locally and on my travels.

Well done! Clearly running gods were with you. Those runs are amazing, better than all known drugs. And they are giving you motivation to push through more difficult times, as you know how it can feel :)

Realistically I think I can come off the drugs (prescription) if I continue on a roll like this

IgaT profile image

I am sure you can and maybe you will. The running highs can be amazing and I think are staying longer. Keep running, keep being happy!

I'm just behind you! W5R2 tomorrow night 😸

You can do it. Be kind to yourself and really do some stretching now and tomorrow and before you set off and get a good brisk walk far warm those legs up. Especially your thighs. Watch your posture so you're not leaning over putting weight on your shims and feet. Just keep going if it's tough go down to a jog. Just keep going. :)

Cheers chrisc25k!

Actually, for many personal reasons I did parkrun for my W4R3

32 minutes continuous running but did it! 😸

These now feel like recovery runs.

I actually felt better AFTER W5R1 than I did before it!

Lots of stretching...

Intrigued as to why you did a 5k on WK4R3

Katnap profile image
KatnapGraduate in reply tochrisc25k

Wrong in the head?

Mrs Katnap was doing her 10th parkrun, it was 14th anniversary of parkrun.... So I thought why not....

Sounds like an epic run, well done!!

20 mins really isn’t that much of a jump. You ran for 2x8 mins today so all you need to do is bridge the gap with 4 mins-doesn’t seem that bad does it?!? I really enjoyed the second 8 mins so I did some breathing during the 4 mins and just relaxed into the last 8, before I knew it 20 mins was up! If your buzzing after today’s you will feel amazing after run 3!

chrisc25k profile image
chrisc25kGraduate in reply toMarcia-H

Yeah controlling the breathing and learning to relax into it.

Marcia-H profile image
Marcia-HGraduate in reply tochrisc25k

The whole toxic 10 thing - I personally don’t feel good until after the first 8 minutes of any run anyway. Then I take a few moments to breathe. After that I enjoy the rest and breathing becomes natural again with the odd deep breath.
