Week 3

So I’m a 55 year old ex army boy . Who used to run long distances without too much of a problem . I can honestly say that on a treadmill I have found running for 20-25 mins ok. Outside it’s a different matter and 3 mins running was hard today . I just want to believe I can get there by week 9. Oh and I am older and 2 and a half stone heavier since I left the army . Any tips?

Welcome, thanks for your service.

It’s about rebuilding your endurance... so it’s about running slowly... go as slow as it takes to talk in full sentences and then work through the runs. Work on speed later.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

C25K is designed to be done at an easy conversational pace........it is not a boot camp....... the pace will build your stamina and speed will follow with strength.

Enjoy your journey.

Yes I have a tip for you...stick with it, you’ve made the hardest decision taking on C25k and you’ve got so far already...it might take you longer than 9 weeks like it did me but so what?? It just makes the celebrations even more worthwhile !! Do it in your own time, no rush & im sure you’ll see a change in your stamina, weight, outlook, everything in the next few weeks...what an exciting journey you’re starting?!

Thanks that’s great motivation. I know I can’t do what I did 20 years ago , but I have a target in mind 👍

I agree with Mummycav - I'm achieving far more than I ever could have 20 years ago. You might surpass all your expectations 😊

My tip. Step away from the dreadmill

The great outdoors is just so much better. Time passes like lightning too 👍🏃‍♂️

I am resending as it didn’t show on a reply . Yes I have cancelled my gym membership. Sick of the faceless people, at least outside people smile back at you when you pass them running 🏃‍♂️ 👍
