For those who fancy a change from the rigours of running, I would recommend Racewalking. Usually a very friendly and welcoming bunch who welcome all abilities. I did my first race of the season today, a One Hour Challenge - see how far you can walk in just one hour. I managed a fraction under five and a half miles, and had the consolation that there was actually someone older than me walking. (Over 80 years of age) It's great fun, just as hard as running, but less damage to joints. Easily mixed in with continuing with Couch5k, and a fresh set of muscles get honed......(Good for the bum)
Racewalking an option: For those who fancy a... - Couch to 5K
Racewalking an option
I’m a big fan and tend to do both. They use very different muscles. As soon as my new orthotics have bedded in I will be picking it up again. Well done on your time trial.
Wow! You walk faster than I run! ☺
That's the reason I get relatively good times with Couch to 5k. Years of long legged pounding along with a farmers lope. Used to be faster in my sixties, but lost a slight edge recently. I forgot to stop the Garmin after the hour so it has recorded three minutes standing round afterwards. Annoying. Those whose lives are dominated by their Garmin will understand.....
I love a good brisk walk... speed maybe not so much 😂 but I do try.
I was surprised recently to learn that the record for walking a marathon is under 3 hours!
Might throw a bit of this in with my running!! Anything that’s good for the bum is good for me! Lol 😂
