I think I’ve just completed this run twice!! Anyway, started all this aged 64, weighing 98k and unable to run 100m without complete air starvation. So feeling chuffed! BUT I’ve lost 1kg in weight only! Idea was to get fit and lose weight. Anybody else had this issue? Family and friends tell me I’ve lost weight. My clothes fit me better for sure. So where’s the F going ‘cos it sure isn’t leaving me!!

Erm it is only week 6. You’re also not burning many calories doing the programme.

Carry on with your healthy eating and drinking, continue with exercise and your weight will come down.

It takes time and patience

As you run beyond C25k after graduation, and starting running progressively further, then that’s when things start to happen. Be active all the time Aim to walk much more in general 💪👍🙂

This might explain it to you healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Keep going and you will see a difference if your diet is good.

C25K is not a weight loss programme.

Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You're losing weight about as quickly as you'd put it on if you weren't following a healthy lifestyle. I had the same feeling as you at your stage of the programme – I had cut out potatoes, bread, cakes, pastry, beer, etc. and was eating salads and doing C25K but my weight barely changed. I reckon that I lost fat and added muscle and family and friends told me I looked slimmer. You'll see more changes in the next few weeks as you get towards graduation (because you'll be running a lot more of the time). 7 weeks on from graduation (working towards 10k) I have lost a stone and 2 inches around my waist – so stick with it and you'll achieve your goals.

As misswobble says.. early days...and the link form IannodaTruffe explains further.

If your clothes are fitting better and you are feeling better.. you are on the way... healthy eating and this..it is a winning combination..but patience is what is needed :)

Week 6! That's a big achievement! Well done!

Regarding weight, in short you are gaining muscles (1 pound of muscles takes less space), calorie expenditure increases around week 6 - so you are at great point to start seeing bigger results.

Healthy eating, not necessarily diet, will help you A LOT! Due to health reasons I had to resign totally from all added sugar, white flour, bread, pasta, rice, no sweets, chocolates, cakes, cookies, etc and I noticed I lost 6 pounds during 1 month of that diet. This was combined with beginning of C25K and a lot of walking every day. I'm not saying you should do the same. My point is that eating habits is very important in weight loss. As everyone before mentioned, running will start showing more results very soon.

The same as with programme, slow and steady, a lot of patience and determination, one step at a time ;)

Don't panic. After 6 weeks normal weight loss would be around 3 lb or 1.5 kg. so with rounding errors you are probably there or thereabouts. 1 lb of fat is between 3000 and 4000 calories (from memory) and so 1 kg is at least a 6000 calorie reduction or around 1000 calories per week or 150 calories per day, each and everyday. So well done.

Weighing can be an issue for small changes. The body loses about 1kg overnight through evaporation etc. Clothes as can make a difference as can different weighing surfaces as well as leaning whilst weighing.

I would recommend weighing in the morning, standing up straight, without clothes after going to the loo.

Potentially you could already have lost up to 3 kg if your first weighing was in the morning, no clothes, after visiting the loo and leaning forward on the scales vs a later reading at night, with a few clothes, full stomach and standing up straight.

Not what you're looking for?
