Hey guys! So I thought it would make sense to begin to track my runs on my final week! My pace was steady but just too slow with managing to complete a 30 minute run with a 4K done. Looking for advice of how I can push myself more as I have signed up for a 5K in less than three weeks. The pace tonight was consistent and I felt I pushed myself but maybe I need to more! Thoughts?
W9R1 completed but no 5k: Hey guys! So I thought... - Couch to 5K
W9R1 completed but no 5k
I'm sure you'll do it. There's no need to do it in 30 mins. Slow and steady. 😁
Don't worry about doing 5k in 30 mins. I did my first 5k in well over that. It's about the taking part and celebrating how far you have come. Good luckx
I can only do I 5k in 50 minutes I keep try to run quicker try again Sunday
Don’t push it... just do what you’re doing. Many at the 5k will run walk, and you’ll be doing more running than most of them. You may have 5k by then, but you’d certainly have 3k walk a bit 1k walk a bit and run to the end. You gotta enjoy that 5k, not hate it because you pushed too much. If that’s not your thing, you’ll likely be capable for 5k in 35/40 with no pushing.
Did my first 5k today in 39.5 mins. I think 5k in any time is brilliant but would have like it to be nearer 37 as I know I can do that but have had a virus for 10 days. However long it takes you/we have still cracked the programme.
Please don’t push yourself to run 5k in 30 minutes. You’ll more than likely pick up an injury. Only about 10% of people on here achieve that goal.
You don’t need to ‘race’ in your 5k race. In fact you’ll be way more likely to complete it if you take it nice and slowly. Plenty of time to work on speed. 😀👍
Just go at a pace comfortable and extend the time a little.
I also have just finished W9R1 this morning Feeling very pleased with myself I am 80 years of age and I took it up for a challenge after my birthday Maybe because I am 80 I expect less I have only completed about 4 k for the 30 mins I went on a Park run last sat for w8R3 and did the 28 mins and then continued but then I had to walk for 100 metres. Time for 5k 37 mins. I was the only 80 year old in the run. I thought more would join So I hope to try and build up to the run for 5k gradually I sure you will be able to do it But not so sure about me.
