So I have been running for 6 months now and I do feel fitter and I am slimmer which is fab, but where does all this extra energy come from? I am always tired and ache. I was running along this morning thinking.......hang on, it's been 6 months now. Why do I still feel rubbish all the time!?! ππ€£π my husband said I need to eat better....I stick to approx 1600 calories a day to help weight loss π€
Where is my energy please?: So I have been... - Couch to 5K
Where is my energy please?
Firstly... amazing job, very well done.
Have you been adjusting your calorie intake regularly while losing weight? Your ideal calorie range will have changed a lot. Maybe a small tweak will give you the missing energy.
Thank you. I didn't think of that ππ
No worries

This is the best... eat at the high end of the calorie range and keep the exercise up
Thanks, according to this the lowest range is 1780, so I am below what I should be eating. Really helpful, thanks x
Well done for running for 6 months. I have been in the same situation where the more I trained the worse I felt, after having a blood test was found to be anemic..... all good now, so might be worth checking out.
I graduated in June and have been doimg well since, until I started weight watchers four weeks ago. I need to lose weight and I have lost weight...but the last two runs have been dreadful. No energy. Mentioned it on here on the Bridge to 10k forum and great advice, all diet related. We need to eat stuff that gives us the energy to run. My body just gave up one the last 2 runs. We need carbs. Am now planning to include more within my daily allowance and hope I get my energy back. π€ͺπ€ͺπ€ͺ
My daughter is very excited about an ice cream in the supermarket where the whole tub is 320 calories and itβs high protein too... she knows that 311 calories is a 5k run! Sheβs losing weight still but sheβs really looking forwards to that for breakfast before parkrun when sheβs at healthy weight ππ
6 months, that's amazing!!
Have you thought about asking your doctor to check your iron (haemoglobin and ferritin) and other levels (B12, thyroid hormones) for any issue that might cause excess tiredness?
I'm currently a bit low on ferritin and B12 after asking my doctor for some testing... likely caused by regularly donating blood, despite the fact that I take supplements. So I'm taking a break from donating blood and working on getting my iron and B12 levels up. I feel like I could take a 3 hour nap at 10am, it's not fun to feel like you're trudging through most of the day.
