I don’t feel like I’m struggling from a cardio point of view, which is great, BUT... I still have a niggling knee pain, which isn’t hugely painful, nor does it stop me running, but should it stop me?
I may be making incorrect assumptions but the knee in question received a blow after being knocked by a machine about 25 years ago. It’s never been a problem as such, but then I’ve never run before.
So, the question... if the pain can be managed by using Voltarol (which it seems it can), am I ok to still run on it, or am I going to make it worse if the Volterol is just ‘hiding’ the pain?!?
I really don’t want to stop running but equally, I don’t want to do more harm.
Cheers
Simon

From experience with, in my case a 30 year old set of injured knees, I would say that my knees don’t give me a choice... I get sharp stabbing you’d be a complete idiot to run another 10 yard pain when they can’t do it.
Some aches and pains are normal, especially in the early days and you may just be feeling that, with the old injury in your mind. I’d keep going but also go and get it checked out just in case.
Hi sibenett, I had knee issues but was able to abate them by having my physio look at my knees...mine turn in when running, which is bad and apparently a cause of joint pain. I’d been thinking it was muscular. He advised orthotic insoles. And icing for 15 mins after a fun then 15 mins before bed. I then went to a running shop and had a gait analysis and they had shoes with inbuilt insoles that correct my footfall while running. Almost instantly my knees feel better. I still continue to ice. Crux of the story, have your knee assessed, it may be from the injury and require stretching etc or it may be fixed with insoles/new running shoes and ice. But definitely get it checked you don’t want to cause damage.
Hmm... previous injury on the knee... sounds like you should likely go see a physio if you can to check on it... wouldn't want to have that old injury flare up and stop you in your tracks. You may just need some general knee strengthening, I had some knee pain in my spring c25k journey and they really helped, and have kept me from having any knee issues so far in my current journey. But best to get a bit of help and make sure you're on the right path.
