Post graduate injury 😩

Graduated and felt so pleased. Decided on new route to build on distance and at 25 mins felt horrible pain in calf. Had to hobble home and was so disappointed. Week later it’s uncomfortable e at times mainly on stairs. Want to get back out there but worried about it happening again. Think I need to warm up better as only did 5 min walk (as usual) but don’t do stretches. Any ideas /advice. many thanks

Get it checked out...this has been happening to quite a few folk recently.

We don't give medical advice, so best to see what's happening... ?

You can try rest and following the NHS guidelines.. and then heading out again very gently.... and see how it goes...but, if there is even a twinge get it checked... a sports physio would be the best choice..

Having had a minor calf tear, I am a tad cautious:)

Thanks good advice. The positive side is it’s made me realise I actually enjoyed going out for the runs more than I realised. I’m actually missing it!

Had similar issues, mine was the achilles. That stuff can take time to heal so the physio gave me daily exercises and it eventually got fixed. Don’t run through pain, whatever you do. Niggles are common but pain is the sign that something is going south. Physio is your guy.

Lots of sympathy. I had that happen to me at a similar stage. I found gently rolling it with my trusty rolling pin helped the healing process ( alternatively you could get a foam roller). You will mend & run again. 😄

First run out after graduating Monday and thought I'd try a new run and just explore the area. Well.
