parkrun - which other day is best to add 10% to distance?

I recently started doing a parkrun and hoping this will be a regular thing. Also looking to increase distance a bit and if I use the 10% rule it obviously cannot be the Saturday parkrun. So my other two runs are Tues and Thurs. Bearing in mind the fixed parkrun, which day would be best to do the longer stint. If I do it Thurs will it help or hinder me on the parkrun?

It seems to be most people will do a long slow run at the weekend..but it is really up to you.. personally I do mine on a Friday as I run Monday Wednesday and Friday..

The usual premise is to follow a harder run with an easier run... again it depends on you and how you feel .. my initial thought for you would probably be the Tuesday.. but you could try tuesday one week or thursday then try the other..

As Saturday is “race day” I’d go gentle the run before... so the run after would be my long. It is of course possible to do 5.5k at parkrun though... you just get your token and run a bit more, then go hand it in with your barcode. Or you could run to the start area and be about the right time to keep running.

I’m planning on following a plan after graduation and there’s rarely an exact 5k run... but there are 2.5miles etc so if I do parkrun weekly it will be my most compatible run that gets done that day.

If you slip over to the bridge 2 10k community sr4363, you can look at juju’s magic plan to 10k. I have seen many c25k graduates achieve this . I am currently doing it after graduating in May and have reached 8k this week (I’m 60). The forum is very supportive and is for post c25k graduation . Good luck whichever direction you take.
